I'm almost done with Wild Arms Alter Code F. I left the final dungeon just some rooms before the point of no return so I can do some of the optional stuff. Which requires me to do lots of leveling .. ._.
Spent the whole day on doing some minor sidequests, getting Zack's final Quck Draw and all optional characters. So I still got lots of leveling, bosses and dungeons to do. I'm still just at around lv50, which was apparently enough to easily annihilate all of the final bosses.
Croc is probably the weakest part of the game, it's a pretty neat section at first but it does drag on a bit longer than it really needs to. That said, it still has its moments.
The game is much smaller and shorter than I had anticipated, which is probably a good thing. It was funny when I opened the map a few minutes ago and kept looking for "the other map" for some reason.
For me, the best part about this game still is that you are the goddamn Batman. I was always more excited about sneaking and gliding to my destination than what would be waiting for me, though there isn't really anything wrong with the game as a whole, it's just that the Dark Knight factor is THAT good.
Final battle was dumb. It wasn't awful, just... random. It's like they got it from a game design manual. "Must make villain inexplicably huge." And you pretty much don't fight him...
I will definitely replay this, loved it. Don't care about Platinum because the tasks are usually tedious, but the Riddler challenges sound like fun. I got about 50% of 'em.
Just to be sure, you can go back and solve all of the riddles after beating the game. You have free reign of the island. No dudes to punch though.
Make sure to replay it at least once for Hard mode. Hard mode is the real game. And I usually don't bother with higher difficulties in games because most games are stupid about it.
The important thing about Arkham Asylum is that it's not an action or adventure type of game, it's a being goddamned awesome all the time game. The combat isn't terribly difficult or complex because it's not about just fighting dudes it's about beating the everloving shit out of dudes. some times ten or more at a time. It's about all those guys patrolling a room getting more and more terrified of the simple idea of you being there as they find more and more of their buddies hanging from gargoyles. It's the Batman-est thing.

I kinda agree and kinda don't here. Yeah, the bosses as a whole were not stellar and that fight isn't really bad in that context, but with the way the combat worked and how they established Batman here you can't really make a "real" boss fight. They went with the untouchable super bad ass Batman in a straight up fight he doesn't lose and the combat just isn't geared for a one on one type of fight, so they stuck to using gadgets and took the fighting part out of the bosses. I'm sure in the sequel they'll have some tweaks to make it more of an option though
Did you fight all the dudes in party hats outside the final boss area? It's the biggest fight in the game, I think, and it's fantastic.
I will also add that I don't care for Achievements but I did go for all of them in this game because they were actually good/things I'd have done anyway.
I guess you're right about the combat. Still, there's gotta be a solution
I'm sure there is, really hoping the sequel finds something.

I hear some of the freeform challenges are quite difficult, how difficult are they?
Some of the stealth based ones have tricky goals and you have to complete all three of the level's goals in one run to get credit for them. There are some videos on Youtube that can help if you need them.
The straight combat ones aren't too tough. As long as you have a good grasp of the combat reaching the point goals isn't too much trouble, you just have to remember that you're going for points rather than just clearing the room. A lot of people seemed to have trouble with one room: Shock & Awe (Extreme) for whatever reason, it's not that hard you just have a pretty tight time limit. You can get close to the highest point goal just by finishing the level so as long as you're competent a high score shouldn't be a problem. I definitely had more trouble with the stealth ones.
finished sly 3. not sure if i like it more than the second game or not ... some aspects of it are definitely a lot better (much less travel time between missions), but the camera and some of the controls seemed way worse than in sly 2. why is the camera always zoomed in so far? often your character model takes up 1/3 of the screen, and it makes seeing anything pretty difficult.
Wrapped up NMH2 much sooner than I would have liked. Not that it's too short, just that I had a shitload of free time and it occupied pretty much all of it. Great game, some things about the first that I miss and overall the story wasn't quite trippy enough, but still awesome and I'll be tearing through Bitter difficulty sometime soon.
For now though, I've got Brutal Legend in my 360. Pretty nice so far, but I think one's enjoyment of the game is directly tied to how much they like Jack Black and his brand of humor. Being a big Tenacious D fan, I'm pretty much right at home here, but I understand how he can grate on a lot of people. The art and animation are all fantastic, but gameplay is a little mixed. It's part action epic, part open-word driving, and part real-time strategy. The parts don't always mesh so well, but it's definitely got charm.
started cursed mountain tonight ... it looks and plays like a ps2 game, but i guess i wasn't expecting anything better. the slow run speed is going to get annoying though i think.
One funny thing about playing Metroid Prime after toying with Corruption and Prime 2 Wii is how badly I miss the spring ball. Original NTSC Prime with spring ball perfectest game.
if it had the spring ball it wouldn't feel like prime to me. i guess i associate a lot of things with that game, and when it suddenly changes, like when i played the trilogy version, it doesn't feel like i'm playing the same game anymore.
Gave Endless Attack 10 another sot today and got to room 50-something. I think it's kinda harder than EA9 in regards to the damaga eyou can potentially take. Avoiding damage is a lot easer in EA9.
Spent some hours on Wild Arms again, but it's still quite a long way to go for me. My main party is at about lv77, which is pretty neat considering I made about 22 levels in just a few hours. I even managed to accidentally encounter one of the main superbosses. It was lv90, while my party was just ata round Lv68 - great fight. That beast took me almost 2 hours and nearly managed to wipe my party near the end of battle ...
