not like they'd be in any way useful when you can beat the game like that :/

btw did you talk to the cat after drangleic castle became accessable? she'll gain some new lines of dialogue by that point in the game. although it'd probably be more precise to say she'll have something new to say each time you acquire a great soul
Dood Trigger™
I don't think I have, nice.

I'm reading about some things that I missed, and man, there's so much extra stuff that I should have figured out. Did you know that by using Bonfire Ascetics
you can make all enemies AND the boss of that area respawn AND more Black Phantoms appear? Pretty useful if you need to farm materials.

Tonight I'll collect keys/important items I missed and maybe try to fight optional bosses.

yeah i read about that, and apparently it has the exact same effect as going into a NG+ or NG+2,3 etc.
did you figure out what's up with those golems holding torches in drangleic castle? it seems to be a puzzle, but i didn't find anything
Dood Trigger™
It's just extra lighting from what I've been reading. Apparently during development they wanted to make the game super dark so we would always choose between a shield and torch, but they scrapped that, and a lot of seemingly strategic torch uses don't make any sense.

Tho maybe the lighting serves a purpose in that fight? Like lighting the huge lamp in the Wharf
makes those monkey arm enemies scared.

Glitch into Shrine of Winter, skipping half the game. LOL

It's version 1.00 only.
nice, too bad they fixed that : /
shrine of amana
fucking sucks. who thought this place would be a good idea?!
Dood Trigger™
Yes. By far the worst area in the game. :\ Bring a bow, buy a crapton of arrows. Also helps to summon the NPC between bonfires 2 and 3 IIRC.
just completed the area, you're right cheesing one's way through the place with bow&arrows seems to be the only safe way through there for a melee character

the boss was super easy though
Dood Trigger™
Hint for the next area (it's a tiny spoiler but you'll thank me):
don't ring any bells! And make sure you kill enemies that are trying to ring bells.
i'm afraid that hint didn't help lol
when i jumped down that hole with the female statues around, the first enemy down there rang a bell before i even realized he may be about to do that (since i wasn't seeing any bells)

anyways, this dungeon is insane. it's almost a shame they scrapped the darkness. btw
is my assumption correct that that hole only leads into a dead end?
Dood Trigger™
If you're referring to the part where you fall into a hole with a ton of graves/ghosts,
that part is mandatory I think. At least that's the route I took. One of the corridors there leads to the exit.
guess i'll be getting nightmares tonight
Dood Trigger™
Hahahahaha yeah, that area does that.

Right now I'm cleaning up some areas. Found out how to open those white doors.
nice

i got lucky and found the exit down there right away. just finishedthe dungeon.

did you attack vendrick?
Dood Trigger™
No, but I'm planning to.
He's easier if you have a certain few items later on.

Do you know where can I find the bonfire in
Belfry Sol
?
sounds like i'd better not attack him right now then. is that still doable after beating the final boss and before starting ng+? given that he is not the final boss and only optional that is.

the bonfire in belfry sol is at the very beginning of the iron keep area with the platform you can raise and lower, behind an illusionary wall. it's basically an alternative to fighting the smelter demon for a bonfire
Dood Trigger™
Ah, thanks!

And yeah,
you can fight him after beating the game. Same goes for all the optional bosses.
that just reminded me...

did you find the second bonfire in drangleic castle?
Dood Trigger™
I didn't find 2 or 3 there! But that's one of the areas I decided to rush through and come back later. I know where one of them is...
it's hard to describe but it's the passage one story above the acid pool. There's an invisible wall there.
ok, that must be the one i missed. thanks!

i also just realized i missed the third one in the forest of giants. i thought that would be past the
king's door
, but apparently i was mistaken? :/
Dood Trigger™
Dunno if you want to know the details, so here's a hint:
make sure you open all doors available with the Soldier Key.

And a more specific one:
from the second bonfire next to the vendor, climb down the ladder and enter the passage to the left. The door is there.

there sure is a lot of missable stuff in that first stage!

and crap
i pulled the lever in albia's keep before having talked to some npc there which apparently makes me unable to start a questline. and i even made sure to explore the whole place before pulling the lever, so i dunno how i managed to miss that guy.

edit: oh i just remembered there was a fog wall. probably shouldn't have left that for last then..

so my next destination to advance the story should be the
throne of want
? the game isn't clear on this a at all :D
Dood Trigger™
Wait, did you beat the next area(s) after the one with the lever and collect the item? If so,
all "produce symbol of king" doors should open if you equip the item. Including the way to the Throne.
