Fucking SJW shill. kys tbh fam.

I honestly don't think they can actually finish this game. Ornstein and Smough are gonne wreck them.

yeah, another big part of the problem with dark souls is that you don't just naturally get stronger like in pokemon. With pokemon you're just funneled to your next destination, and even if you get lost in a cave fighting your way through zubats, that's still exp and gaining levels.

The "director" of this is going to have to find a way for them to vote on which attributes to level up or something.

Fuck Biggie and Smalls, how would they even manage the Bell Gargoyles?

Yeah come to think of it, how is resting at bonfires even going to work? That'll be more than just a bit of a pain in the ass, and getting weapons fixed and upgrades and everything.

I have a feeling the guy directing this is gonna have to do a bit more "helping" them
It's a joke anways. Especially with the stream lagging so badly behind. If it weren't for that, I imagine someone could write a program to read actual control inputs, so people could play all at once properly. Or randomly taking turns every second.

haha speaking of the Gargoyles, I just spent like half an hour getting my ass kicked by them only to turn around on my like tenth attempt and win the fight in like a minute and a half without getting hit. Fukkin Dark Souls yall.

Pretty sure you can repair your stuff with the New Londo merchant.

I didn't think of that guy at all. Thanks! Guess I'llet get my refight after all.

Quote from tomatobob:
You can also just switch weapons for a bit if needed and march on through to Andre like a proper Soulsman.

But If I'm at that point I might as well go the regular route to fight Havel...

dude this is like the weirdest thing right?

I'll be fighting a boss and getting my ass kicked over and over and finally beat it, and then later I'll play it on an even harder difficulty at a friend's house and just be in the fucking ZONE man, and kill it without even taking a hit.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah and then it's all like, "Well what the fuck why didn't you just do that the first time dumbshit!" Then you bumble fuck your way into a death by one of those Stone Guardian or whatevers in the forest like a dope and all is normal again. Inconsistent skill is a beautiful thing!

True. Which means the only real option is to gather your strength and ascend to your final Soulsman form: Parry Havel The Rock.

Taking a break from doing something helps with getting your concentration back. Also, the human brain also keeps learning from a past experience for a while.

Beat Havel. Few. I ended up turning the brightness up so I'd have to focus less on just trying to see tanything.

And I didn't have to bother with repairing my katana, even though I ended up fighting Havel about 5 times. Still went and repaired it after I beat him though, just in case. Afterwards I took some steps into Blighttown from the New Londo shortcut. Got just past the fat guys, thought I'd keep going, but then remembered about the guys with the toxic darts. So I pussied out since I wasn't prepared for that at all.

Grab the Spider Shield from Valley of the Drakes!
Yeah, guess that's what I'll do.

Sucks so much boss weapons are locked until Anor Londo. Early Chaos Blade would be a nice incentive for slaying Quelaag asap.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It's not so bad cause that's pretty much the only boss weapon that doesn't blow and before Anor Londo you really don't need it, any +10 weapon will do fine.
Just defeated Pinwheel and the Capra Demon. Haven't gone to the Gargoyles yet, and I think I'll leave them for last this time. Just because. Earlier I forgot to mention that I'm actually doing a shieldless run. Considering that circumstance, the fight witht he Capra Demon went surprisingly smooth. Sure I got almost killed right as the fight started because I thought I'd have the time to throw an alluring skull (pro tip: you don' have that time), but apart from that I didn't have any problems.
Blighttown should be fun though...

I played through Dark Souls 2 yesterday. Pretty quick run in about 3 hours. I did a crow roulette thing where I'd pick Petrified Something as my gift and use whatever weapon the crows gave me for the whole playthrough. Out of the crows' entire list, you only have a chance of scoring 1 of 3 weapons (Demon's Great Hammer, Old Whip and Channeler's Trident), so I was going to reset the file until I got one of those. Got a Channeler's Trident first try. With Petrified Something you have like a 50% chance of getting one of these weapons, it wouldn't take long anyway. I was hoping for either that or the whip because the hammer is essentially another Great Club, which I use all the time.

I have never used the Channeler's Trident in DkS1, although I certainly spent way too long farming it. In DkS2 at least, you can dance like the Channelers from the first game and buff your character's attack by 25% for about 15 seconds. Interesting feature, but not too practical because (surprise!) the durability on this weapon sucks. It eats 10 out of 40 durability to cast one dance, so it's really not worth it unless you're dealing crazy damage per hit. And it takes so long to dance that it's hard to find even one opportunity to use it.

Thankfully, like most pokey pokey weapons in DkS2, the Channeler's Trident is pretty OP. It has a move that spins the tip for 3 consecutive hits, it has good range overall, and the damage is more than adequate when you upgrade it. I had to go grab the weapon degradation ring, which was immensely helpful all the way through the run. My weapon actually broke while I was fighting Oldstein, and I was forced to do the whole first part of FoFG without attacking anything until I unlocked Lenigrast's shop.

Fun game!

Hahaha nice!
Ok. Blighttown from the shortcut was a piece of cake. Gargoyles are dead too, next is Sen's. With a +5 weapon and no shiled I've never been this "weak" at this point in the game. I wonder how things will proceed from here on out...

Got my Chaos Blade and cleared Anor Londo. The area went smoother than I thought. Without a shield I was sure to get stuck at the pathway protected by archers, but was lucky enough to find a summon sign in the first part of the area. So I had someone else help me out with getting past that spot (thank god it worked!). When I got the Chaos Blade and upgraded it to +4 I went and fought the Titanite Demon. Took me a few tries, the guy's tough enough when you're using a shield, but w/o one...
On the attempt that I got the thing down on I had it somehow sitting in a position where its tail was sticking out of the wall, into the hallway. Basically I got to throw some fireballs at the thing safely from outside, which did quite a lot of damage. Still had to the finishing hits properly. That was scary.

O&S I fought for the first time since my first playthrough by myself w/o the help of summons. Beat them on the first try. I kinda feel dumb having felt threatened by them in my last playthroughs, they're really not that hard. I even got hit pretty often because I didn't know Ornstein's moveset so well and survived the fight regardless!

Congrats!
Thanks!

Our brave warrior Juan has crossed the half point of his journey through Dark Souls SL1 NG+3.

I've beaten O&S and Four Kings already, so the rest of the run should be a lot shorter than that first session. Took about 2 hours and I only fought the mandatory bosses so far. Thinking about going after Capra and Stray Demon to have a maxed Grass Crest Shield. We'll see how I feel closer to the end.

Four Kings, man. Never had a Souls boss go from my top hated to one of the most genuinely fun fights. I was especially happy this time because I figured out a great setup for RTSR hypermode mid-fight. The homing magic spear thing is the one attack I can never dodge, and I know in NG+max you can just heal and block it with Cracked Round Shield and it'll put you right back into hypermode. But in these middle NG+s, Cracked Round Shield actually blocks too much of it and you don't get hyper. Thankfully, the solution was simple: Grass Crest Shield. It has lower magic defense, just enough to trigger RTSR. And of course, as a bonus, you get fast stamina regen (still used a Green Blossom, though).

The rest of the fight was smooth and it didn't take me a lot of attempts. I used my Lightning Hand Axe+5 this time instead of Fire Reinforced Club. You can cancel with a roll much faster compared to RC, and the damage isn't bad. I killed the first king with the axe, then the rest with Great Combustion.

O&S were a total gamble as usual. Made it to Super Smough a few times and I'd always die to something stupid like his butt stomp AoE. Ornstein still dies fast at least. In the end, it's all about getting a lucky pattern and landing 3 Great Fireballs. But when the game refuses to cooperate, this fight is so infuriating.

If everything goes well, I'll finish tonight.
Woah, good job. I already dread fighting 4 Kings without a shield and Havel cheese.

I just fought Artorias w/o a shield. Making him go down is going to take me quite a couple of attempts. It seems with my current gear I can't get hit at all if I want to survive the whole fight. Seems like poise doesn't only reduce the damage mark at which you can staggered, but also lowers the time it takes to recover from stagger. He did that thing on me where he jump attacks thrice in succession, and I couldn't get up and roll away at all!
Dood Trigger™
Thanks, dude. :)

Artorias shieldless is all about baiting the right moves. You can definitely do it. Run *at* him until you see he's doing something, then retreat a few steps and dodge. The attack where he dashes forward and does a sword swing is the best opportunity to attack. Roll towards him and punish.

SL1 NG+3 is done! \o/

I always feel like I forgot something when I finish this game, especially in these runs where I don't want to do annoying stuff again next time. Case in point...

I got through the rest of the game quickly enough, so I decided to go fight Capra and Stray Demon for upgrades. The path to Capra Demon was actually harder than the boss this time, thanks to dogs and the bridge dragon deciding to 1-shot me. Capra, as usual, was all about somehow escaping that initial cheap rush and rolling upstairs. Then there's killing the dogs and not getting hit by Capra's attack... but I got lucky and the planets aligned. Got the Large Ember and then Very Large at New Londo for that Grass Crest Shield+15. Stray Demon was cake and he gave me the Titanite Slab I needed.

I also made a Fire Hand Axe+10, mostly 'cause I was so enamored with the Lightning one vs. Four Kings. And whoa, getting through the Catacombs in these conditions was nuts. There are just so many skeletons, and it's not always easy to isolate them. Divine Reinforced Club+10 kills them in one hit as long as it's a backstab, otherwise it takes like 4 or 5. Either way I couldn't afford having more than one enemy following me. I died before I activated the second bridge and I ended up making a leap of faith from the first bridge, onto one of the platforms that leads to the shaft where Vamos' shop is. Phew.

Hope I don't have to make new weapons for NG+4 through 6 because Jeez, that was rough. But still a good time. At this point everything kills me in one hit, so the last NG+s shouldn't be all that different strat-wise.
