ok no video yet but somehow found a way to get floaty jump in the frigate, I was just wall crawling past it to get to some items in my wavebeamless run, and in biohazard containment the water doesnt reach "the side ather" so for speed reasons I ather jumped in the corner without water, and found that I had somehow activated floaty jump, when I saw then I had it I started recording, (I also got side tracked trying to get a missile with IS)

right now im trying to find a way to activate it again....
Thread title:
wait, you started recording after you got it? Shouldn't that mean there's a video? lol :p Either way that's really cool, I don't see what could have caused it, but I'll go try it.

well judging buy how you can gain and lose floaty jump in chozo, I'm starting to think you don't "need" changing water, and yes theres a video but not a video showing how I got it.  btw I pause a lot because I'm talking to people on MSN
I must have missed something... what SW did you use to get oob with? And were you able to get that missle tank after the video?

no, I'm still trying to get that tank, I might one of the few then need wave beam
and I wall crawled here from life grove
atleast the video's proof, not that I assumed you were lying, but it's better than nothing.

Have you been able to recreate it yet?

nope, I stoped trying, I'll try more tomorrow but right now I'm tired of that wall crawl
Is this on console? If not, this entire thread is moot
I'm pretty sure it's on console... If it wasn't then he could have made a save state then not had to do the whole wall crawl again. Also it's fairly simple to tell the difference between console and emulated because of the difference in quality/graphics.

its on console, I don't have a file on dolphin past getting space jump once

emulated can usually produce better quality... so that argument isn't exactly valid. But my question has been answered. Interesting find, keep pursuing this, although I'm not too sure how useful it is in tallon.

It wont be usefull on tallon, but this means that there might be some way to get floaty jump in phen
or later on in chozo
That brings up an interesting point, because if what you've said is true, then you really didn't do anything special to get FJ here, meaning there might be a way to get it in other places too.. You really should keep pursuing this. :)

I'd love to but ummm school + lazyness = me not doing so, yet
A random theory from a lurker: Some room you passed through has two sets of enemies, which got switched at some point. That small change in room state is enough to create the glitch water which gives floaty jump.

If that is correct, it might be possible to get floaty jump after picking up a major upgrade that changes the enemies in the rooms (without saving/using an elevator). For later on in Chozo Ruins, the Ice Beam puts chozo ghosts in a lot of rooms. Perhaps it's possible to get floaty jump in a room that gets chozo ghosts and has water (Arboretum?). In Phendrana, maybe Phendrana Shorelines will give floaty jump after getting the Wave Beam (or is it the Boost Ball?). Further, does the Gravity Suit change some enemies in far Phendrana? If so, then one of those rooms might give floaty jump.

Note that none of this has been tested, it's just a thought.

this theory sounds interesting, but I don't think anything changed in the frigate when I got this

I just got this glitch to happen too. I was travelling through the sunken frigate for the first time in this save- and backwards- via life grove SW. The floaty jump started whilst I was moving from Deck Beta Security Hall through Biohazard Containment and I noticed it happen when I transitioned into Deck Beta Transit Hall. I moved as directly between the tree rooms as I could, so it happened somewhere around that corner of Biohazard Containment.

Not sure if this is interesting, but thought people might like to know that I repeated this glitch, albeit by accident.

edit: The only explanation I can think of is that coming through Deck Beta Transit Hall backwards changes the state of the door that you need to open by energising the conduits in Cargo Freight Lift from unpowered to temporarily open.

Good to know it can be replicated, I might go back and make a video of this sometime (or you could?) :P but ATM metroid prime is that last thing on my mind, I've been getting into mario 64 and sonic ADX lately....
i think Metroid Prime was messed up a LOT thanks to the fact that you have no Screw Attack. is there a way to get the space jump early? i saw a video of it and the video showed target lock on something and jumpong to the ledge behind your gunship. could someone explain how that works?

I have no idea why you asked a question about space jump first here, or the relevance of screw attack either to this thread.. but yeah..

You're new here, so to go for space jump first look here: http://www.metroid2002.com/without_boost_space_jump.php

metroid2002.com has lots of articles about cool stuff like that. also, it would be very worthwhile checking the last post dates in threads too, cause this one has been inactive for a couple months, but I saw your other post was replying to a thread that hadn't been written in for a couple years.. this isn't a hugely active forum, so bear that in mind. But it is full of lots of great info if you are willing to search for it.

soo.. yeah. Welcome to the forum
