IMPORTANT:
As of this moment, Super Metroid: Tallon IV is DEAD. I am starting over fresh, with a new title, Super Metroid: Triton. I am locking this topic so it will fall to the bottom of the forums as it is no longer a hack I am working on. Triton will be built up fresh from scratch, and will not have it's own thread, at least not for a while anyhow. Sorry everyone, but I have a strong perfectionist side, and SMTIV was not headed where I wanted it, with multiple bugs, bad pointing, newbie editing, etc.

I am not done hacking! I will still be present on the [MetConst] forums, and although I will not have a thread for a while, I am still working on my project. If there is anybody out there that is really super eager about my game, which I doubt, first, don't hold your breath; I want to make a quality hack, which takes time. Second, you can [visit my website [url-http://kylarmercer.webs.com/]Here[/url]] where I will be keeping a semi updated journal on my progress (  stern  BTW whoever this guy is from India, stop trying to hack into my account. Seriously, what do you hope to gain from it?)

That is all  extra_smug

Videos for my upcoming hack, Super Metroid: Tallon IV

Progress is slow, I have a 3 week old baby on top of a normal schedule, so don't hold your breath. Progress is steady, but I can only do about 1 room a day (with a good level of detail and repointing)

What to expect:

Skills needed:
Walljumping is a MUST. I know some people have difficulty with this, but I use an xbox 360 controller and have no problems, so I don't see how it can be too difficult to learn.
Mid air morph - Mostly optional, not forced too much
Bomb skills - Double (maybe triple?) bomb jump, diagonal bomb jump, and infinite bomb jump. I will NOT make IBJ required, it RUINS the mood...
Slingshot - Running, then jumping in the opposite direction to achieve increased height

Features:
Random physics tweaks, including (small) underwater walljumps
Changes OVERHAUL to game mechanics
New GFX
New enemies
New items

Progress
Overworld - 98%
Chozo Ruins - 8%
Lava Lakes - 30%
Phendrana - 2%
Research Lab - 15%
(T.W.A.I.N.) Tourian - 0%
... Slow but steady. I do have a 3 week old baby to worry about!

More updates to come
I will be modifying this front post to avoid double posting when i can
Thread title:
Sounds really cool. Don't worry about double posting. Post as much as you like so we can all know when you update

I the first video I couldn't really tell how it was supposed to be a Super Metroid Prime.

That was more evident in the second vid.

But are you going to just reuse bosses, or try to implement new ones since your changing more than the typical mod?
What'd you say?
Surface Crateria seemed why too "boxy" for my taste but other than that, I like what I'm seeing.
We are helping SilverPaw quite a bit, he's getting much much better as he goes.

I'm making a few changes to the world, such as adding a snowy "phendrana" area. Nothing is set in stone, it probably won't stay on Tallon IV, but you have to remember, you are on a PLANET if MP took place in Africa, and SMTIV takes place in Asia, things are gonna be REALLY different, even if they have a shared region. I only went on the TIV tangent because I didn't have a name other than SMX, which sounded too cliche
I would change enemies, but doing something as simple as changing a zoomer to a crystalite proved too much of a hurdle for me, so it's more of a "use your imagination" relation for now

I'm getting started on Norfair/Lava Lakes. Some of what I have is in the newest vid

As you can see the "ice" has gone through some reiterations, and thanks to Blarget2 from MetConst its looking real

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Please don't use url tags when posting youtube vids.  It means when people click it opens a new tab every time rather than just playing the video.  Just paste the url on its own. Wink

Also, I don't think you meant 'terminal velocity' in your video.  Unless you're introducing falling acceleration, Saums reaches her terminal velocity almost instantly in the game, and you'd be hurt by nearly every fall. Razz

I did mean terminal velocity, actually. The maximum fall speed is 0700 which is what i set to deal damage. It really only hurts if you fall more than 1 screen. Ive also tweaked with the gravity, so maybe i introduced acc. without realising it

-EDIT- also, it only deals 6, 3, 2 damage so it doesnt have too much of an effect. I just wanted a little more realism
