Mantuna, I think you are using an old version of SMR.  That maze does not have 3 vertical pipes.  It only has one in the center.  There are also two lava pits you need to single diagonal bomb jump across and should not be difficult to do.

Maybe you can send a screenshot of this puzzle to confirm?

Gameplay:
Shifty Leader
That M2k2 guy
Sure looks like the old version to me. E>

Too bad it got simplified. E/>

But it hadn't been life or death then, either. You can keep retrying by rolling to the right. It's kind of a funky DBJ. Basically, it's just a double-bomb jump that starts you off diagonally. Then you drop in a pits a couple dozen times and you eventually get through.
EDIT:

Nevermind I finally got it.. I don't know how though  :|

Just kept laying down random bombs and I got it. lol
Thats the old version of SMR, I don't know where you found it, but delete it and download the patch off my site.  there will be many bugs in the version you are on now.
I found it on another forum I go to, it was already patched as a ROM instead of a IPS file.

I don't know how to apply patches to roms.  I've tried in the past and they never seem to work for me.

Plus, I'd really hate to start all the way over :(

I'm in Norfair, and just got the power bombs.. and I can't find my way out of Norfair.  It seems to be blocked off by a 'closing pipe'
You don't have to start all over, ingame saves are forward-compatible 99% of the time.
EDIT:

I think I got it working.. I don't see any differences though.

Could anyone give me a tip on how to get out of Norfair?  I have powerbombs and I don't know where to go.
Almost happy
I just beat draygon and I think I have picked up all abilities in the game (except plasma).

Now where is the entrance to LN (Since I'm quite certain that's where I should go). Also I would like a rather straight anwser since I find little enyoyment in running around blindly for an hour or two...(Guess I won't like the guardian hunt...)
Go to the down-right of Kraid's room, find a lava-filled room with lots of horizontal pipes embedded in walls.
I did something interesting while playing Redesign today... I did a bomb spread except I held down even after morphing, which caused me to still glow yellow. The bombs that were produced were really high-bouncing! I never knew you could do that.
It's the same in SM as well.
I just left Norfair after getting pbs, and it seems the only place I can go is behind Kraids room(noob tube). It leasds to a different part of Norfair. I got about 2 missile packs here and now I'm stuck. When I keep going east, I am stuck between two grapple walls.

Edit: Found it
Once again, you're not stuck. If you think you got stuck, it in 99% of cases means you went in the right direction but failed to locate the passage.
when I say stuck, i mean "I can't find a way." not literally. >_>
Read back some number of pages where others have got stuck in the same spot you have.  When I got to this place I first thought...  "Did I go too far than I was meant to?"  :P

Or if you're in a hurry here is a very vague riddle you may be able to figure out....  grin new

your only escape from this very hall
is when you assume the form of the ball.
Telling a bad joke on this stage is the only way
to exit stage left and live to fight another day.

Oh...  Yeah. aiwebs_008
Time bomb set get out fast!
For more non-Redesign-related fun with bomb spreads, try doing one on top of a recharge station.
Hold the bomb spread charge until you're in a morph ball tunnel and release. It's cool.  aiwebs_016
Wow, Redesign got moved to second page :(

Well, I need help again: just got speed booster: what item is next? I know where the gravity suit is, but I have absolutely no clue how to get it.

Edit: Nvm I found it after a few hours. >_<
There is a bomb maze in Norfair.  From this screen shot it is to the left.  I've heard it said that there aren't any places where you need to do any infinite bomb jumps to get up to anything.  But I've been all around this room and can't find any place to blast open or roll into...  I hope the screen shot is familiar enough that someone will know.

edit:  Oh and (Duh!) I'm wanting to get those missles.  Embarassed

Every Bit Counts
I thought he said that you don't need to IBJ to beat thr game, but you need to for some expansions. I don't know though.
Gaius_4: at the very top of the room, you should see a yellowish block on top of a tube. Speed dash into it to break it and then morph and fall into the hole. The path from there is pretty straightforward. You need to do a few IBJs, which are a lot harder than the ones in the original game IMO. (I have yet to finish this maze)

Q:  I seem to be stuck in an area where it looks like I have to use the infinite
bomb jump to get out, and it seems too difficult for me to do it.  What do I do?

A:The Infinite bomb jump is NEVER required to beat this hack, so if you find yourself doing this to get somewhere, you might want to turn around and get
the item that you need.  It is, however, nessicary to get 100% items.
Quote from moozooh:
There's no part in the game (at least the natural route) that requires you to do diagonal, horizontal or infinite bombjumps. Double bombjump is the worst thing there is. If you find a spot that you think needs an IBJ, it's the wrong spot and you need to go elsewhere.

:-s

So...  IBJs for 100% item collection.  But no IBJ's for finishing the game.

[useless info]This is my 2nd run through the game after beating one time. [/useless info.]

I'm guessing this is a case of everyone not being on the same page.  Take the speed-run by Saturn where he sequence breaks to get the highjump/springball by IBJ'ing.

Answer to my question: keep on practicing the very difficult IBJ.  Embarassed

Invoke Ultra Slo-Motion Mega Powers!  Frame Skip: 25%! Activate!  He-Yaaa!  (a'la Power Rangers).

I'm guessing this is a case of not reading the readme.txt supplied with the patch. It was quoted by kwinse just above.
