Hey folks. This is just a minihack that I've had done for a long time in several different pieces as possible ideas for hacking. Basically, there were a couple of different one room puzzles that might have ended up in Cider. Then I decided that none of these ideas would fit too well there.

I was going to just delete and forget about them completely. But, I needed a break from Cider, so I decided that with a little bit of work, I could combine the puzzles into a mini hack and give it to you guys to mess around with. Keep in mind I didn't put much/any thought into aesthetics; this is focused more on the puzzles.

With that said, you can expect the same classic Cardweaver style goodness that you saw in my halfhacks (mostly Soup, but to some extent Gravy).

Required:
-Speedballing
-Single Wall Walljumping
-A knowledge of SM's underwater physics including:
-Tides and how they affect jumps and speedboosting
-Underwater Walljumping in 1 or 2 tile wide columns
-Semi Short charge

Recommended:
-Patience
-Creativity
-Savestates (only to save time, it's not exactly a dangerous hack)

There is no boss or escape sequence; instead, the game is over when you have the following 3 items:
Gravity Suit
Springball
Screw Attack

For Unheadered ROMs. Have fun!

For some reason this locks up on me after I start a new game (after picking Samus A, and before it brings you to the New Game/text language/Control Options/etc).

As far as I'm aware, I'm patching an unheadered ROM, since it's a copy of the same one I patch for all the other hacks I play.

Edit - Nevermind, it was a headered ROM, which works fine after converting to unheadered. GG me.

In other words, finished.

This hack combined elements I hate and yet was still tolerable. I especially despised the underwater walljumping, but some of the speedballing was fun. I hope Cider doesn't involve any wall jumping underwater.

Also, I wish the rooms weren't so utterly recognizable as they were.
Whew, beat it.  Though I had to use slowdown to get the last block, too hard to do in real time.  I think my favorite room was the first speedballing one.  I was stumped on how to get up to gravity for a while too, kind of stumbled on it by accident.

This is beyond my capabilities.

The 1st screen shot.  Embarassed

And I think you have to

Keep the 3rd/ top most enemy alive so you can jump off of it to get out of the water...?

Edit: No. Embarassed
Almost happy
This was pretty fun, and really challenging. The room before gravity was extremely annoying, how did you intend that to be done? I'm not 100% sure I did as intended (though I have no idea what else could be done...).

Also I TASed it. Got it down in just under 10000 frames, and ~1:28 ingame. It's decently optimized as well.

Agh, you're way too fond of hacks that require near-frame-precision. >.<

I also got into that room in your first screenshot and wasn't able to proceed. I can get up onto the rectangular island above Samus, but from there I can't seem to get onto the right wall while still being above the water. If I walljump off the island while above water, I run into that downward protrusion; if I walljump off while underwater I can't get back above water to walljump off the rightside wall. Keeping the fireball-spitting enemy alive doesn't seem to help any; even when the water's at its lowest you still can't get out of the water that way.a
OH SNAP! NEW CARDWEAVER STUFF!

Too bad I'll have to play it after I get back from a-kon. I'll make sure to rape this hack when I return, just for you Cardweaver :].
I think you could've still used a 'food' related name.  Like: Left-Overs, or Indigestible Bits.  grin new
Regarding the puzzle in the first screenshot:
1. Get up on the square.
2. Wait for the tide to be about 1/4 of it's way going down (3/4 of max water height).
3. Spinjump off to the right, then pull back to the left, walljumping off of the square to the right.
4. Wall jump off the far right wall and then push back towards the right as soon as possible.
5. Repeat step 4 until you clear the water.
6. Savestate so you don't have to do it again.

Also, very nice Cpadolf. That's rather fast. I especially like the first speedball.
Time bomb set get out fast!
I love the title of this mini-hack.  I doubt I'll get far, but I'll try it out.
Sorry if this is off-topic, but if you think about it - this title would've been PERFECT for 'Angry Fire Chozo'.  grin new

And this particular hack did make me a tad angry.  aiwebs_006

Razz j/k
What a boring hack. <johns> I would speedrun this in real time but that last speedball makes me want to play Pudding with my eyes closed </johns>.

No Johns. >_>
I don't know how "precision requiring speedball techniques" translates to "puzzles".
I can't get anywhere because everything requires speedball. -____________-

Time bomb set get out fast!
You were fine until that last part, Bloodsonic.  Watch the direct insults.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've never played a Cardweaver hack before, but now's as good a time as any, right?

[complain]...and people need to start using my patch converter.[/complain]
I'd say that this is not the best way to start off Cardweaver hacks.
I agree with Sneaky. This was more of a "stretching the physics-look what I can do" hack rather than anything worth judging. I knew that some people woiuldn't like it, but I figured I spent some time on it, and someone was bound to enjoy it, so I might as well release it.
And don't forget the clear example that you love mockball/speedball a little too much.
It's hard to quit cold-turkey.
