Breathe in the Future, Breathe out the Past
Quote from playerman1230:
This is utterly ridiculous. I'm at LN after Varia (should I have gone back to the spike shaft in Higher Norfair?) Got a state instantly after getting it.

Where are you stuck in LN?

Some dark room (I'm getting pissed off at dark rooms enough I would even hold a flashlight up to the monitor). It's with yellow pirates.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can turn on the lights in that room.

Get to the very top of that room and IBJ into the left tunnel. Go all the way to the left.
If you're talking about the room I think you are, at least. And if you're playing original mode or there aren't any differences in that room between versions.

Thanks for the hint. My arrow keys are on the verge of busting because of angling wall jumps (they wear out every time I do it in Cliffhanger).

Quote from Black Telomeres:

He couldn't use Kejmap because it would destroy his lore. And according to ahem, some people, Kejmap still has a few problems to work out.

To clarify, Kej's coding is probably fine, I believe it's Jathy's application of this code in SMILE that needs some tweaking. It would also be SMILE 1.32 that would do damage to the lore, not Kejmap.

Yeah, I remember...

June 17, 2008: [18:17] DMantra: i would use the new version, but it threatens my lore

That being the case of SMILE 1.32 (conflictions of lore that wouldn't even display right on the mini-map and the loadstations).

But that's soo cheap  gah
At least they don't know
that you can cancel out the fireflea effect by pressing 9...

Oh no! I've said too much.

When I was playing through, I didn't even think about tricks like that. It wasn't too dark, and there weren't deadly obstacles that I needed good visibility for, so I just dealt with it.
UnSealed And UnBound
Finally after long hours Cliffhanger done Ez mode.

Thanks for playing! *added*
10:35, 86%. in real time it was probably more like 40 hours, i mean this seriously took me forever to beat. didn't find keruarn lore or save the etecoons/dachoras. great lack, loved all the atmosphere
So, I'm at a dead end, and I'm trying to figure out if I need Power Bombs.  Here's a screen of the room; it should tell you where I am.

Normally I'd just X-ray the room, but it seems the X-ray doesn't work in certain rooms (usually the ones with weird scenery, like this one).  So, could you A) tell me if I need PBs and B) give me a hint on what to do if I don't.

Think of how you got to that point in the room. Hint:
Lure the enemy in the lower part of that room to stone blocking your path
I had been suspecting something like that, but it runs into an important problem:

The sidehopper is trapped in the column that leads to the door.

And I don't remember there being any other enemy-destructible blocks in the room, so what you had outside of spoiler tags wasn't very helpful.

Completed- 5:36, 82%, all lore, animals saved, easy version. Great hack, one of the best in my opinion, and certainly one of the most detailed. There were some minor things that bugged me, like the lores in general (didn't fit in to me), having to back up a save on some occasions because of an inconvenience or a glitch, and the wrecked ship lock out. Overall, amazing job, though.

One question before I move on to 100% this and try out the original version: Can you get the "taunt" tank if you miss it on the first trip through the wrecked ship? I see how to get it now, but the ship is locked and the tank disappeared.

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed my hack, bugs aside.
If the taunt tank isn't there anymore, it's because you got it elsewhere (same index).

petrie911:
The sidehopper is trapped? I've never had him get stuck in the column that leads to the door, I didn't think it was possible. Could you supply a screenshot?
Anywhere, everywhere
Huh. Don't remember getting a tank there. Oh well, back to the 100% quest.
Well, here it is.

Since I can't actually get out of this room without IBJ, is there any way around this?  I actually wouldn't mind using a code at this point...

wow now that's a rare sight! if your only save is in that room, you'll have to ibj out of there :(
however since its my hack and a problem for the player, if you give me a savestate (granted its for snes9x)
i'll try and ibj you out of there.

No, I can do it fine.  Only took about 5 reps or so.  Still, something to fix in the next version, eh?

Anyways, I got the item in there.  It was...not exactly what I was hoping for, but w/e.  Time to look for the way forward...

EDIT: Well, I just attempted another Hell's run, and I'm having trouble with a room with yet another spiky walljump puzzle and an oddly placed grapple block.  I can grapple the block, but I don't see what to do from there.

The room in question is left of the elevator shaft.
Ibj. If your playing the hard version that is.

Watch the preview vid embedded in the original post of this topic.  (again, if you're playing hard version)

EDIT: OOPS sorry I meant this vid instead (although it may contain other spoilers)

Can someone tell me were to go? I've been stuck around the norfair elevator w/ this stuff for a LONG
time with this equipment

Almost happy
Make a shortcharge and spark through that block in the first picture.
