If I only said that to please you, would you believe me? No. 'Cause I'm unknown player. No one believes me. What if the unknown speedrunners somewhere in the world have no idea of English and don't know how to explain their runs?

So, how did they prove themselves? Is there a clip of Hotarubi, Behemoth speedrunning SM (show their hands, their TV, or even their face)? I will be joyful to see that.

My run is too heavy and divided into 17 parts. I was assisted by a software to combine all the parts into 1 file. Would you mind explaining all the screen blurs for me? 'Cause I didn't edit the video. Believe or not, depends on you. I don't care.
The Bomb that says it all .!..
Hey man there's no need to get upset. All you have to do in the future is put down a little more information about your run. The only reason people where speculating is because you didn't elaborate on what type of run you did.

No one here is upset with you doing a TAS, many of us do them as practice and to see what time we can be aiming for if we play our absolute best. They can also be very entertaining (as yours was), The only thing is tell everyone exactly what your run is then people will have no need to question it.

Then when you do do a sweet run on the console or under console conditions and you tell everyone exactly what it is there will be no question.

Well I'm a regular here and have been for nearly two years and the community has followed my progress and watched me get better over time. Trust me, I wouldn't be doing this if I was faking it. I have a passion for doing things the hard way, and the community knows that. There's an element of trust that comes from knowing people for some time. Not saying newcomers can't be trusted, but that's just how the world rolls unfortunately.

I've thought a lot about filming myself playing for you guys to see. I don't have a camera though to do this. Perhaps I should look into investing in one.

As for Hotarubi's runs. Honestly when I watch his run, they just look like they were played on console. He makes perfectly human mistakes along the way amongst his great playing. My runs are the same so there's not much reason to doubt him either, because I see myself in his style. Where as a real-time TAS usually has no "mistakes" amongst decent playing, and just looks suspicious. Obviously your run isn't suspicious because you have told us it wasn't meant to be a console run or anything. But you get what I mean about his runs.
I felt very disappointed when I tried to provide speedrunners with some ideas to fasten their runs and I was considered as 'not legit, not real, fake'. That hurts. Anyway, I have some comments about this run.

Phantoon's fight: I think Hotarubi's 3 round strategy is safer than 2 round with wave combos. Maybe speedrunners should save before this fight to do a 2 round, 'cause if failed, it must be terrible and wastes a lot of time.

Metroid Skip: It's super hard. Should save before meeting this creature ._.

btw, it must be very entertaining to watch players do their world record runs :) I wanna see how fast their hands are!
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
There's no need to feel bad about people automatically choosing to disbelieve your run.  It's just the default response.  If you'd said that it was tool-assisted, there would have been no confusion.  It's been cleared up, so don't worry about it.

Saving before Phantoon was done in Behemoth's current record run to get better luck with the fight.

Metroid skip is a case of practice, practice, practice.  Though it is easier on the PAL version. aiwebs_004

Well we only said those things because of different circumstances. Honestly we wouldn't have said those things if we knew for definite what you were trying to do.

Well many of us have actually found our own ways of making this trick work nearly 100% of the time using visual aids and manual counting. So this is something we happy to do in a single segment really. However like Quietus said, if you want best patterns on Phantoon like my run had, then you need to save it really.

I think the metroid skip is the only thing I wouldn't try in a single segment on NTSC. Too much risk at that stage of the game. PAL version though, bring it on Very Happy

If the run was made on console, i would understand these feelings, but it wasn't. So, is it legit? Is it real? Isn't it "fake"? So why to be upset because people was thinking the right things about the run? Instead of beeing upset with the ones who were right, you should just thank the ones who gave you credit, believing it was not using savestates or slowdowns. To be honest, i would be very pleased if i could provide a run that could make people doubt of me, cause it would just mean that the run was really well made, but everyone has a different opinion. Anyway, most of us made/make runs using the emulator's tools, i did lots of runs and for every time we make one we find more and more new strategies and tricks that can be useful for the speedrunner comunity. I managed to improve my skills a lot only doing this kind of runs. Keep trying new tricks and improving your skills, and just let this missunderstanding go.
@Reeve: According to u, all the tool assisted runs are not legit, are fake? Why do people still like those runs? 'cause it's entertaining
U know what the real thing is? The game doesn't play itself. No matter what type of run is, players must spend time & effort doing it.
Using slowdown, even 50%, just try, can u pretend as if it was played on console? Ridiculous. 'cause the game goes very fast when u play at 100% speed.
Didn't I claim anything? Unassisted? No savestates? No. Isn't it obvious that this run was done on an emulator? Just look at the game graphic, I know if it was done on console or not.
If you're going to post a run on a speedrunning forum without specifying that it was on emulator or semi-tool assisted, people are going to rightfully think you're claiming to have done it on console in real-time. It's that simple.
Tool-assisted runs are not necessarily fake. Trying to pass a tool-assisted run off as a console run, however, is fake. Because of a misunderstanding, several of us quite reasonably thought that was the case at first. Now, we know that isn't the case, so there's no reason to keep arguing it.

How about this thread gets closed and we be done with it. We can then talk about NTSC speedruns on, lets say..................... The NTSC speed runs thread.
@rd7979 Just to defend Reeve a little here. He's also speed running this game to a very high level and has done several tool assisted runs and knows everything your saying. But his argument wasn't about what your saying.

I think you might be taking the "fake" and "not legit" words a little too seriously and probably personally. Those words were thrown around simply because we were under the impression (at the time) that you were trying to pass the run off as a console run and a new record. Once it was cleared up by you, we rejected these statements, and that's it, end of. They weren't an attack on you personally for everything you have to offer from here till the end of time. On the contrary, we welcome people who have things to offer and new tricks to show us.
