You realize he's a very busy person and doesn't hack 24/7. Not to mention he says constantly that he's adding more stuff in that wasn't originally planned, making the game bigger, thus taking longer to make.
anywho...
This game is a constant inspiration for me to be a better hacker, and was the reason I got into gfx work in the first place. I'm very glad Achy came around, and I have high expectations for Aegis. I hope its worth the wait! ^_^
The hack is easily four or five times bigger than it was originally planned to be. I don't even want to promise dates any more because the more work I do on it, the higher my standards become and the longer I spend improving things.
As to the recent lack of updates, I'm currently using my mactop since my windows compy is basically useless. I'll install boot camp on this one as soon as I get the drivers to run windows properly. Wish they'd just let me download the damn things.
Edit: and btw if anyone has a link to those boot camp drivers by chance, it'd be great, I really want to hack again.
I seriously can't WAIT for this game. I would pick this over any new-age game that is scheduled to come out, Seeing as how I grew up with the original Super Metroid. It's my favorite game of all time and will forever be my favorite. And to see someone work so hard to remake the super metroid experience, and do a good job at it, almost brings a tear to my eyes. I simply cannot wait for this. Good luck in your work and don't rush it, cause we all want it to be flawless and as good as it can be, which I'm sure it will be :)
So here's a little update, more of a "woe is me" really:
-I have two laptops, both macs, both gifts/hand-me-downs from wealthier family members. I have no desktop, though I wish I did. -One laptop is two or three years old, and it looks and runs like shit. It has fallen down stairs, been abused by a toddler, dropped countless times... not good times for ol' lappy. It was my hacking comp, but it finally basically "gave out" in Windows OS. It still runs, but at an unworkably slow pace. Thinking a re-install of Windows might remedy this problem, I backed everything up and formatted, only to learn shortly thereafter that the CD drive no longer reads discs at all. -Nonplussed yet determined to get back to hacking, I decided to go ahead and throw Windows on my newer, shinier mactop. The only reason I hadn't bothered before was because I already had a "good" Windows machine, but since that is no longer the case I decided to boot camp my way to victory. -Unfortunately, I don't have the Leopard OS install disc handy (it's in a storage center SOMEwhere...). I tried to install Windows anyway, using the drivers from the old compy. No luck; Windows runs, but no internet, no sound, software display, no bluetooth, etc. Need drivers to work before I can use Windows. -I tried downloading the drivers online, both via torrents and Apple's website. Same result; the drivers are "there" but the computer refuses to use them.
So I'm guessing that you just can't download the drivers... I must NEED the original OS install disc. At least, I hope that's the case. I've tried formatting and re-installing the Windows OS several times, and I keep hitting the same brick wall. I'm going to try to hunt down the original OS install disc... worst case scenario I can probably order a replacement. If that doesn't fix it, I guess I need to send it in to Apple.
All my stuff is backed up, I just have to wait until I have a working Windows OS before I can get back to hacking. Sorry for the delay.

Unfortunately you need the Leopard OS disc to install the drivers, otherwise windows has no idea it's a fucking computer. Obviously the Mac bypasses this problem by NOT NEEDING 4 DRIVERS TO ACCESS THE INTERNET and by not being a fail computer.
As I mentioned above, no progress can be made until I can run Windows again. I took my computer into Apple and had basically zero luck. I may have to save up for a new machine.
Considering the laptops aren't working correctly, I think it's safe to assume there wouldn't be any buyers and plus, selling bad hardware is just wrong.
Sorry to hear about your computer troubles Ach. Figures something like this would come up. Damn Murphy.... Well, hope you're able to figure out a solution somehow.
