Acheron, I for one like this tune. Ultra ambience for the win. It sounds as if you've just stumbled upon some great mystery of sorts. Well, in any case that guy is a nice composer. I look forward to hearing more from him as time goes on.
He has said on multiple occasions that he has found "a guy" who is helping him with the music, and right after he posted the tune a guy named RKittens joined and talked about it, so I guess that is him.
I have been super busy, guys, sorry. This has been a very long week.
Yes, RKittens is helping me make music (the sample I posted was entirely his work). I'm sure he appreciates any constructive criticism. The music in Aegis will be all-original stuff, though certainly it will hopefully remind you all of Metroid from time to time.
It needs a little more... detail? I don't know how to put it, but that's just my opinion.
Hmm, I wouldn't say that - since music isn't what the player is going to focus on, I think it's good if it's stays in the background (something I think this track will accomplish well). That way you make room for a stronger subliminal impression, which I guess is what you would want in a metroid game.
IMO the way it sounds in the opening (about first 30 seconds) is perfect for an area like glacia. However, it successively gets much "darker". This might not necessarily be out of place, but if these feelings of darkness and tension are introduced from the start, I feel that some areas where you would really want them to be would lose some of the effect. But then I don't really know what the rest of the hack (I'm tempted to say game)will be like. Still, consider it.

Wait, don't tell me you're gonna replace all the original music from metroid! Wouldn't that take like forever? Besides I think there needs to be some of the original tracks left to keep the feeling... oh well it's your hack.
I doubt he has the time right now, due to real life stuff. I notice looking at his profile he hasn't been around since the 11th. And besides, I doubt the first page will be updated because of this a few pages or so ago:

I realized keeping the numbers wasn't very accurate, since I keep adding more and more to existing areas even after I think I'm done (example: Glacia got five new rooms this week).
Although, Acheron86 is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong....
I'm dealing with some progressively worsening health issues right now. I'm not really sure when it'll get better. This project has to take a side seat to other concerns until then. Sorry dudes... I'll be back when things get better.
Oh dear, sorry to hear that man. Hope you feel better soon. If it makes you feel any better, I'm planning on Let's Playing Aegis when it comes out. :) I'll post links if you want when the time comes.

Yeah, stupid fire, polluting my environment due to forest fire. Maybe this is why you got sick?
I'm no good at sympathy, Acheron. I don't do the whole teary eyes routine. But I will say this: you'd better find a way to get better, because if you pass on and leave us, I'll never forgive you! Ever!
Asking if he has "Any estimate for how long your recovery will take" after he says he's "Not really sure when it'll get better" does not sound like a "Get well soon" line and is generally bad form.

IIRC Ach is in Florida is Florida on fire too? 'Cause Socal is, but that's pretty normal.
Quick update for anyone who's wondering... had a trip to the hospital this week, found another ailment, but treatment since then has been pretty good and I'm finally starting to recover (ie, not in constant pain).
Still very weak and tired, unfortunately, but it's a lot better than it was a week or two ago. Hopefully I can return to the hacking scene soon.

It's a relief to hear from you, and that you're doing better. Get well soon, and don't be a stranger at jzd
