How many times are you going to ask about the teleporters? When he's ready to elaborate he will, repeatedly asking about how they work isn't going to help things .
[2008-10-21 16:02:17] <Cardweaver> you never answered my question in the Aegis thread [2008-10-21 16:02:45] <Acheron> I assure you it was intentionally ignored [2008-10-21 16:02:48] <Acheron> :)
So yeah, he probably won't be answering that question anytime soon.
Apologies to everyone for the long silence, I'm now working full time on top of college, so I've had precious little time to hack. I'm still shooting for a 2008 release, but please don't take that as a promise, because truthfully this project would have been released months ago if I were not such a perfectionist. In the last few months, entire areas have been redone and I have added on huge chunks of new areas to ensure the hack is complete and robust, and I may still decide to change and create more in the future, so I'm officially saying that "it's done when it's done."
On better news, I have found someone to help me compose music, and it sounds great. When he has a complete version of an area, I'll put it up... still not sure if instrument importing is actually possible, nor do I fully understand the process, but I'm not going to skimp; I will figure it out, somehow, when I have the time.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
-_- I've been so busy with college too, I haven't even logged into IRC in a few weeks. I *think* next week I'll actually have a good bit of free time. Maybe. PM me with the kind of samples you're hoping to import or something. I might not have time to actually get an instrument imported this weekend, but I can probably gauge how feasible it would be or if you should look for another sample.

Thanks, Kej. Will do, as soon as I've got something I'm happy with. I'll tackle it this weekend, most likely.

People could have asked for perfection anyways. At any rate, I would like to see it as a handy present in the winter holidays (even if you can't make a promise or guarantee). SM: Aegis, wrapped in a beautiful gift wrap, and when you rip it open, you'll have to see for yourself in that shiny case.

I would lol at a new years release. he releases it at the veeeery last second before it's 2009.
You know, this is startin to remind me of Starcraft Ghost, announced early then postponed FOREVER.. (RIP) SC Ghost:-({|= Hopefully this wont b the case for aegis but my anticipation is startin to flatline ](*,)
I'm wondering which hack will come out first: Super Metroid: Aegis or Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes.... Ha ha, only time will tell, won't it?? These two are definately in my top 5 most anticipated hacks no matter how long it is before the release, even if it's a five year wait for both.
Hacks get better, when being worked on, with age. The longer the better.
West Glacia will have two songs, just like Crateria does. I'm attaching something atmospheric my music guy came up with... something that might end up being the music you hear in that area, until you've beaten a couple bosses.
I'm happy to hear any thoughts you have on the subject. Be aware this is just a concept, and will probably change later on.
It reminds me of the Hall of the Elders music in Metroid Prime. It's not very ice/snow-like. Sounds like it'd be better suited for the pyramids in Radia.
Bloodsonic: Honestly, I want it to be pretty serious just because this is an entirely new planet that Samus is arriving at. The world before her is completely mysterious and she has no clue where she's going just like you guys will when acheron finishes this. I also used a slight amount of choir (which is why i bet you see it as more of a chozo ruins-ish song) to relate to the fact that there's this entire chozo backstory that Samus is unaware of yet it's still there and she is finding out about it as she explores and finds her upgrades.
FirePhoenix0: Yay I'm glad that it actually remind you of metroid music, that's really encouraging. I know it's not too entirely snow-like (not shooting for ice) but I used a phased sort of sound to sort of mix the technological aspect of the area as well as the snow. Trust me there'll be plenty of snow/ice beatz when the time comes.

That is most definitely true, however just because this is a new planet, doesn't mean that all of the music must be truly ominous. In Metroid Prime, Samus lands on tallonIV for the first time, but that doesn't make all of the music ominous. A lot of the music in metroid Prime doesn't sound ominous at all. (phendrana drifts, anyone?) I truly suggest saving this kind of music for the chozo ruins, or space pirate hideouts or whatev'.
I like it, it sounds good (and pretty metroidish). It might fit better in another area of the game, but then again as stated by RKittens it does fit pretty good as a opening tune.
An interesting piece all right. The choir part kinda threw me off for a second and did make me think of a Chozoish track instead, but we will have to see how well it mixes with West Glacia. I think it would do well.
