Are there enough "hard to hear" sections in the game to warrant the use of subtitles?

I constantly use subtitles for TV and movies (because they sometimes tell you information you can't normally hear), but I think they'd look a little out of place in M:OM.

From those who played it. Will I be able to understand everything they're saying without needing to resort to subtitles?

I always turn subtitles on because otherwise I cant understand a word.

from what i saw, the subtitles say exactly the same the characters speak so no extra info. the speech was pretty clear too so i bet that you won't need them.
i used them out of habit because i'm not a native english speaker and i thought i'd miss something on the way but it didn't turn out like that.

haha. there's no way to test this theory, but i think you probably understand the same or more as i do and i am a native speaker of american english. the thing is that native speakers have this confidence that they understand everything (unless you're opium i guess!) but that turns out not to be true especially in cases of noisy situations or really fast speech or any kind of different dialect or many song lyrics. so if native speakers aren't perfect then who is?
I turn them on all the time in games just to make sure I don't miss anything. And that way people can talk or make noise around me and it won't effect my understanding of a game.

Always on, doesn't matter what game or movie.

i never turn them on during english language movies but always in video games the first time through. it seems no matter how much i fuck with the settings i can never hear the voices over the bgm.

Could've fooled me.  Your English is better than some other guys' that I know of.

On topic: I always put subtitles on, for everything.  Just in case.

i prefer to use subtitles in case someone come near me and start talking, so i know i will not lose any info...

hehe that's nice to hear. thanks.
gaming and a good teacher in school sure helped a lot for this.

i also watch movies with subtitles on and with some of them i compare how much of the dialogue is different to the actual subs if it is a movie i've seen many times. i can also hold my own with no subs movies but then i end up hitting rewind several times or use the english subs.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I can't stand subtitles for movies or tv, but always without fail turn them on for games. Dunno why.

I used to be like this, but found that in an environment when I'm not going to be disturbed by anyone and can have it loud enough to reasonably hear the dialogue (this was especially an issue with MGS4, for some reaosn the cutscene dialogue was really quiet yet everything else normal volume) subtitles actually detract from the other visual game elements.
I do miss them when they're not an option, though.
I almost always turn subtitles on. Can't make out half the dialogue otherwise. :/
