I've noticed that the current any% speed run that allows GT code uses a glitch involving space time beam to enter the statue room. (See I haven't been able to reproduce the glitch, though, and I can't find any description or instructions online. Anybody know?

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I had a quick look, but couldn't really find anything.  Your best bet will likely to be to ask on the TASvideos forum.

I'm also surprised they never accepted Cpadolf's 0:06 run, with all the x-ray glitching, since some of the other TASes are ridiculously short, and allow any form of glitching.

That is unless you download the .smv, and go through it yourself, but that may not help to understand what the point of the button presses actually do.
Almost happy

The glitched run was accepted although it finishes in 0:12. The 0:06 run you think of might be the one where I started a "new game+" with all the items from space/time beam use but I never submitted that because it's basically a cheat as it removes the hour long setup of getting all the items before using space/time to get back to Ceres. Also, don't really have any idea of what happens in the statue room there other than space/time being used and weird space/time beam things happening.

Nah, I was thinking of the 0:12.  I just had the 0:06 in my head, but didn't think that it'd be in-game. Embarassed
To be clear: the run in the video was performed on a console.

Zoast, the runner in question, is usually accessible on his twitch (twitch.tv/zoasty) He also hangs out in #supermetroid on irc.speedrunslive.com, which is where 95% of current Super Metroid run development happens nowadays. Come by and there are plenty of knowledgeable folks who'd be happy to help you out.
