Spire is the ONLY Diamont, and correct me if I'm wrong but IIRC Retro already confirmed that the MPH hunters won't be in the game, so no Spire himself. So maybe there will be creatures similar to Diamonts, but the Diamonts themselves doesn't seem likely.
Yep, I'm betting it's the abandoned Diamont world. Wouldn't be the first time they've lifted something directly from one of their previous games (KOFF Grenchlers KOFF).
Except Hunters was not their game. Also what Mr Potter said about what Retro said.
The planet here has definately been seen 2 other times: the bombing run and heavy lifting parts of the attract vids. The sea urchin looking rocks/plants are there too.
What appears to be a moon of phazon being mined in the background makes this place an important one (probably visited far into the game). But being an old-ish image, we might be looking at the recent demo area 3 (the brown ground and sky are similar enough).

That doesnt mean that Hunters isnt "canon"; Hunters is labeled "prime" for some reason. We could very well be visiting the world that Spire's race *used* to live on. There isn't any solid reason to rule it out that I can see.
And rarely (especially in console RPGs) the sole remaining member of a race actually is so. But in the end, if they want the Diamont, they will find a way, no matter what. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

this is what I would think given pic evidence . . .not saying spire would be in the game, but it might be the planet that the diamonts lived on before the race died off . . . .think of the original metroid prime for a good example of what I'm trying to get at (chozo used to live there but don't anymore for whatever reason)
