Quote from Odylg:
of course, you can do the ghetto in temple assembly site to get the early expansion and the early e-tank, as well as the 101% ghetto, and have 15 missles and an e-tank at alpha splinter

And why would you want to waste time like that on a speedrun? :?
I found a speed trick, saves about probably......5 seconds max if done right.

Its when you first arrive in Agon Wastes. The main room with the cutscene, and the large frozen worm.  Anyway......

you would continue as normal, until you get to the part with the luminoth scan thing, thats in the middle. (its yellow i think).  There should be a ledge to the left of it, and there is a very small slant which you can gheto jump to, but its very very freakin hard to pull off.

Face the direction of the standing pillar (that  needs a missile to break), hugging the wall to your left.  Its easier if you hold L and put the curser in between the crack of the wall.  After its lined up, try using a gheto jump to the left, which should launch you far enough. While at the peak of the jump, or near to it, try and walk foward, to the right a little. If done correctly, you should have gotten over a small part of the rock, and now walking foward on top.

(if done correctly, you would save around 5-10 seconds to rather break the pillar, wait for it to fall, and travel the normal path.

I dont exactly have a video to explain it,  and maybe someone else can try and figure out what iv been saying :(
I run this here hotel of an evening
if you're saying what i think you're saying, then i know what you're talking about. s_e did this in the 1:43 run
Is that this speed trick timeless?

everybody knows it's true
it's not useless, just too hard for losing a couple seconds.

Yes. I wasn't exactly sure if it was found already, but i know its really ahrd to do :S
I was just woundering, why isn't there a section for speedtricks in MP2? (movies)
Cause Kip didn't put it there.
because it's too difficult to keep current. to see current speed tricks, watch current runs.
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
Another take on the Central Mining Station in Agon Wastes (if not found already).  Not too much quicker, but more fluid and visually appealing....

Instead of ghetto-jumping on the ledge to the left, you can do a scan dash to the left using the door to the save location.  You have to do the dash from the forward edge of the platform away from the door and on the left slope of the platform.  You also have to press the R button immediately after initiating the dash to get a "float" effect in order to get the necessary height.

What is the purpose of that> Just a speed trick or can you skip something Embarassed
just a speed trick.  :?
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
It has already been discovered that you can get up to the top of the Central Mining Station with 3 consecutive ghetto jumps, thus avoiding blasting down the bridges.  This scan dash replaces the first scan dash because it's quicker to do.
Beware: off duty ninja
has anybody done some work on the seekers vs. quadraxis form two?
I tried to do it, but seems like it won't do the trick unless lined up very perfectly, as distance plays a part in how the seekers hit thier target. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just giving my two cents worth after trying to do it for a good while, and it may take someone better than me here to do it ( and if they're nice, put a vid up) but if anybody's done it, enlighten the rest of us.
CHuB claimed to do it, so it is possible (unless he was lying...).  Where were you standing in relation to Quadraxis?  Did you damage the antannae prior to launching the missiles?
Beware: off duty ninja
yeah, one charge and one regular shot with the light beam per antenna. and I was facing the head's face, with the back antenna already done in, as to save a bit of headache with getting samus in position quickly enough. (besides if it dosen't work for two antennae, it won't work for three) I figure that I have a few things against me in terms of this trick, but it's just speculation.

1. quaddy's head dances around like it's on the sauce when stunned, not making a good case for the seekers to hit at the same time

2. when the seekers are fired, they may have some kind of priority based on what missle is being fired. ie: missle one will always hit first because it was the first of the group to be locked on to something even if it's a part of the same enemy

3. I may not have found a good enough position to fire the seekers from. I figure for this to wrok, you would need to opsiton samus so that all paths for all missles are equidistant, giving all missles a chance to hit at once

4. it may only be possible to destroy one antenna at a time, retro may have porgrammed quadraxis to take damage that way.

still waiting on CHuB's vid, if he dosne't have a vid, then his lack of detailing the technique and just saying "I did it" would lead me to believe that it's not possible at all
I promised a silly video for reaching the Energy Controller door in Sanctuary Temple with a quad head and w/o Grapple or SA. Here it is.  I hope you like luck.  Having a natural route grapple skip is neat I guess.

If you make your way down to where the quads are, and without touching the ground, you can prevent them from being darkified.  Just engage them (shoot 'em in the head) and they will attack you as you jump to the ground rather than stand around and get posessed.  Then they give half the damage, so you can play with them for twice as long.  (In the video, there is a dark quad head with a dark shield and a normal quad head with a light sheild.)  They will also attack you *during* the cutscene, so someone might want to try to die during the cutscene to see what happens.

There is a roll jump in Watering Hole (2 rooms before Dark Beam) from one door to the other (skips one platform and saves a second).

Cannot the Transit Station PB be reached with Spider alone?  Could one 3bsj to the ledge or get a damage boost + ghetto from a turret to reach it?
What triggers the changing of enemies from Quads to the… other things?  Is it just visiting the room, leaving, and coming back, or do you have to get the Cobalt Translator or something?
After you touch the ground, the next time you come into the room (having been dumped), those hanging things will be there.  If you've never touched the ground, the Quads will be there even long after you've returned the energy.  So you only get one chance to use them.

You must be talking about a fast spider only. I know you can use the clubber dude to get up there fairly quickly (one of Sparky's tricks, IIRC).

Edit: I completely forgot about the PB wall in Transit Station.  Embarassed  Sorry Skippy, I should have known.
Speed tricks -
1. You can use the kinetic orb cannon in sanctuary fortress (the room before sanctuary temple) to easily and quickly kill the quad mb that comes.
2. You can roll jump across in forgotten bridge. (easier than scan dashing for me)
(user is banned)
are the doors locked during quaddy 2 form?

if they aren't, couldnt we create a game-breaker glitch and BSJ off of quaddy's head to the door? :P
For Quaddy form 2 and 3 you can reach all of the doors by SAing off the top of  a leg.  The normal door is locked.  While Quaddy shoots annhilator shots, they do not open the grey doors (which are not locked).  Master ZED at SCU tried also using Quaddy's powered up shot and reflected/deflected versions of both types with SA without success.  However, he notes that if you ARing yourself the beam you can open the doors. Dunno if you can abuse form 1 to get up there.

Scmpoe's trick one was done by silent ((((echo)))) in the any% run, and trick two was known.  Roll jump == dash jump for distance.  They are interchangable for many of the gaps.  In that same room in Sanctuary (Temple Access), you can almost skip the forced battle by BS jumping to the funnel and then jumping across ceiling beams.  Unfortunately the trigger lies entirely over the alcove leading to Sanctuary Temple.
Sorry if this is old, but in Torvus Grove, if you do the no-Boost Ball method, stand right over the door to Meditation Vista, and drop down, the force field won't appear, thus skipping the Pirate Commando fight.
I'm sorry Mr Potter but this trick was found by me :(

It was found very recently (after I finished the any% run.)

Congrats for finding it by yourself.

EDIT : I'm assuming that you're talking of this : http://filepost.us/userfiles/silentecho/torvus%20grove%20no%20battle%202.avi?PHPSESSID=404913b7cf0385454bbead18066844cd
