Silent Echo use that his 1.57 single segment run. So this is not new trick for me. Roll jump is second way & enemy boost is 3rd way what Sparky use his 100% run. But yeah this ghetto is probably easiest. Nice find.
There is at least 3 way make that room using speedtrick. I don,t sure how about scan dash work here?
Why i don't find new trick, Dynamo works is old and Gathering hall is old too. I never find new tricks.
Don,t worry about this. It is very hard find new tricks. Almost every trick is done already. But you find new way climb up in impact crater. This is amazing find by you and it was new for me.
Keep going, probably you find something special somedays future. :P
I believe this your ghetto in gathering hall was new trick by many. Im not never see that any else run than S_E SS run.

That impact crater is good find, but bsj it's must faster but hardest to do, with my way that's must easy only must used ghetto but high. In some near future i find trick.
1. Mining Station A. I'm pretty sure everyone's had tried to do this dash... In order to get it you have to use a "floaty" scan-dash by delaying pressing/holding the R button and tapping/release the B button VERY quickly to get the height. Also, dash must be done at the very edge of the platform so you get a certain "speed-up" effect. This somehow adds the necessary height to the floaty dash.
2. Mining Plaza, I guess only useful in single-segment runs that dare to try the trick, since it's incredibly hard to get consistent (like almost all my tricks). It requires the floaty scan-dash.
The floaty version of the scan dash should definitely be on the site, since it adds height to the scan dash...
Lol. There's a (somewhat) good reason for that. It was about that time that my time was consumed with other stuff and I was a little tired of MP2. Even for a little bit I tried to get into doing an any % run, but I was getting mad too quickly and needed to take a little break. I also was past that point or right at the beginning of the game.
About the Grand Abyss, have you ever tried doing the initial dash then "rodeo"-ing to turn toward the robot so you can see it better? You should still get the distance required, more accuracy, and an opportunity to do another scan-dash across the second half of the gap...

I certainly get "being a little tired of MP2", and getting mad while doing an any%. If you were thinking about doing another run, I'd definitely consider going after the 100% -- it's a much easier target than the 1:38 right now. Or maybe you were talking about an OoB any%? I'd like to see one of those, mainly because I'm highly curious to know how much faster it would be. I'd probably have done a test run myself by now if I had a) my DVD recorder b) my NTSC cube that I modified for twin video out and c) my copy of the game.
Well, I did use two dashes in the 1:38 to clear GA, but the rodeo thing isn't something I'd ever thought about. It's cool how you're still banging away at this game. Shame I can't try it at the moment.
Yeah, back then I had thought about an any% OOB. I even had a pretty good first segment to get a good feel for it before I really planned out the OOB stuff
I always liked doing the rodeo.
I always thought that better dash setups could be planned if you rotated Samus while mid-dash.
Oh, also, for the Great Bridge scan-dash in Torvus, you can do an floaty dash from the bottom of the platform instead of the top of the scan module, which saves a second or two.
One time ago when I turn on my MP2 I across GA only one scan dash. Three times I have cross GA with one Scan dash without reset. I think that is luck, Vaut is sometimes pain for me, sometimes I cross that 3rd or over 10th.
I have done 2 speedruns where I skip Grapple beam, any% hard 1:57 and 21% 2:19. Now I'm doing new any% Finland record, previous record is 1:51 that's my record, I going beat this under 1:45 if I can. But don't forget MASTER-88 oldest Finland record 1:58.
I just found out that you don't have to scan the scan object in the little room above the Portal to Doomed Entry (Agon Wastes). You can just enter the room to activate the scan point, back out, then reenter the room from the other door and scan the point while moving toward the door across the room.
It should save at least a second over having to stay in the little room to scan it, avoid the pirate, then back out after scanning.
