It's a run where you can only deal damage with consumable items (firebombs, throwing knives, etc.) I've seen it done on stream and it looks just stupid enough for me to try it.
It's all about gathering souls from that run I saw. If you have enough cash to buy firebombs it's all downhill from there. DS1 doesn't have a lot of mandatory fights anyway. It looks intense at parts 'cause you reeeally can't lose your souls, and obviously every hit counts.
The DLC bosses have way too much HP though. Lobos had to dupe consumables to finish them off.
I might try this in DeS and DS2 as well if I enjoy the DS1 run
Just watched some consumables-only boss fights. I don't think I've used any firebombs or urns or throwing daggers at all in DS2. I just never think about them. Same with crossbows. I probably should, the bombs and urns are pretty cool.
Is there any other way to switch spells/consumables/L or R weapons other than the D-pad? I hate having to take my thumb off of the joystick to switch. It would be better if I could do it while I was still moving.

DS2's thrown items are actually super useful. Throwing knives will do more damage than most starting weapons.
With my brightness turned up, I went back to the gutter for some cleanup and found some great stuff, including an estus flask shard. But she wouldn't take it, said I'm maxed. Does it have any other use?
OK I give up. How the hell do you make the door open to the first DLC area? I examined the shrine past the rotten, then I enter a large room with a door that just says 'closed' every time I approach it.
If you haven't found your way down into the firey pit with the big salamander things in the Forest of Fallen Giants yet, you'll need to go there for the key to the shrine where the Iron King was also. Bring poison arrows, those salamanders are swole as hell.
The sunken city is crazy. I found some cool stuff. Thunder quartz ring +3, even though I never found +2. Unfortunately it's late and I need to go to bed.
How do poison weapons work? The only weapon I've actually poisoned an enemy with was was poison arrows. Everything else just works like a normal weapon even though it has poison attribute. I don't get it.
