Hey everybody!
Since I'm spending more time in this forum, I figured I might as well share what I do for a living (or at least, what I'm trying to do for a living).  Right now, my main source of income is doing freelance art for vairous people, commissions, as most normal people would say.  I've been trying to break into the game industry, which is a long and arduous journey, and I won't bore anyone here with the details.

As a side project, which I hope will become my main project someday, I'm also developing two stories, to be turned into some kind of comic or sequential book or something.  You'll see lots of characters turn up over-and-over again, as I concept out ideas for them.  There are also a couple of image sets which have a recurring theme,  so you'll see some repeating ideas, occasionally, as well.

I also rarely ever to fan art.  The one picture of Samus here was out of my sketching materials on a slow, bored-day.  I mostly work with ballpoint pen on paper and in Photoshop.    All of the Photoshop work is done with a few Custom Brushes, the occasional photo-texture, and the occasional Photoshop trick.  It's all done with a tablet, as well.

I'm linking a sampling of work from my Flickr account, which should be pretty stable as far as keeping the images  present, as I almost never delete anything.  If you would like to see more, here are links to my website and blog (which are in my signature anyways).

I'm kinda behind on posting in my Blog because of work and a special project which I'll post next week.  :)

And, in case you're wondering, this is the character I created, who's name I use for my usual internet handle throughout forums, chats, etc..

Thread title:
Nice work! That second-to-last one is kinda suggestive, though. Shocked

This all looks incredible, but I'm no art critic, so I apologize for not being able to give you any suggestions. That being said, if you ever work on any games I think the industry would better off.
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
Hah, don't worry about it for me; his clothes are covering enough for us. Honestly it's barely suggestive at all.
Thanks guys!

Odyssey
I think it would only be suggestive if his pants were tenting and he was sweaty.

Ark
Thanks, compliments and critiques are both refreshing to hear.

Yosh
I didn't really think of any sort of warning message for that pic.  Actually, it's really, really, really tame for what I would make that would require a warning.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Those are pretty badass.

->->->->-> because I'm too lazy to score them individually.
Wouldn't long, loose hair be impractical for fighting because of the potential of it getting in mouth and eyes or serving as a handhold for an enemy?

Wouldn't long, loose flaps of fabric be impractical for fighting because of the potential of it wrapping around limbs or serving as a handhold for an enemy?

Wouldn't the rightmost knife in the second picture be impractical because the hook on the blade would catch on flesh and impede rapid extraction from the victim?

What's the motion supposed to be in that same image with the person kicking the other?  There are some horizontal lines around the point of contact but they don't really give direction; the hair swings around but may or may not be consistent with the movement, and the lower right of the attacker looks oddly static.

In the image after that, what position are the legs in?  Due to all the dramatic shading, I can't figure out any orientation of them that makes sense.

For the "suggestive" image, the waist of the pants seems so low that it would impair free movement.  The muscles are far too lit and defined; if the shadows were that visible the light would have to be at an angle which doesn't match the lighting on the face.  Also, I'm no expert on muscles, but they look rather like they were stuck onto an otherwise smooth surface rather than being under the skin.  They'd be more believable as a molded metal breastplate, although still rather ludicrous.  Sometimes (usually?) less is more.

I skipped over the orange image entirely as it was too much trouble to make out what it was.  Now that I'm looking at it more closely, I can't bring myself to comment on it because I'm so sick of that kind of subject matter.  It's been done.  Yawn.

Other than that, not bad.

Yup, but in a real, full battle, a helmet would keep it back and untouchable.

Yep.  But the cultural references for the clothing is based off of Greek and, somewhat, Romans, where the average person would wear billowing robes of cloth.  I'm not following the source material really close.  Besides, most of this costuming is for everyday use, not in battle use.

Or, a better excuse is the cape excuse.  Where you design a character with a cape  for some reason, like he's a Paladin or something.  A cape is a stoopid thing to wear into battle...but it happens.

Yep.  Unless it's designed to catch when being pulled out...like a fish hook.

Jump.  Thrust foot forward.  The receiver takes the hit in the head, but presumably his feet are solidly planted.  If I drew his feet it might make sense.  The receiving character was drawn after the kick was drawn, so no staging was used, which probably would've helped.

Badly.

Yeah, his abs are all messed up.  His pants are the least of the problems in that image.

Thanks for the crit.
Well, it's done. This is the project I mentioned earlier, 100 creatures in 30 days. Here is the link for all the entry information: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=106442

If you can read all of the detail here, there is a larger image in my Blog.  Flickr's largest size is 1024x1024 and the one on the Blog (http://wolfoverclocked.blogspot.com) is closer to the real size (2000x2000).  The image on the Blog is slightly smaller but still readable.

Very cool. Looks straight out of game concept art.
Thanks Ark!

In case anyone is wondering, the contest entries are up on the ConceptArt.org site.

There is definitely a large image warning here.  Lots of 2000x2000 pictures on one page.

Very nice.

You have good photoshop and drawing skills, and you use both to your advantage. The colorations are nice, and the character are about as charactery as you can get.

The sketches are sketchy. But when aren't they supposed to be?

The concept art is also definitely good, with a wide range of creatures and monsters to be put into any game you could imagine. I love concept art, colored and uncolored, to see the progress one goes through before reaching that final spot. One of the reasons i try so hard to get all the galleries in the metroid games; those artists astound me.

All very interesting. Keept up the good work. ;)

Thanks Canton!

Here are some new things, which I am selling next week at a holiday festival at my ol' college.  The ice armor is a redo of an older piece, which is presently at my Blog near the top of the page.  The wolves are prints, which I'm going to run off on some special paper to make them look a bit more painterly...but still digital...and to give them a sell-worthy quality.  I also have my holiday card for this year, there's a gimmick to the piece, but I won't say it.  I'd like people to guess it, just to see if I did it convincingly enough.

(Er...I just noticed the forum cuts the images off a little...scroll the little frame that-a-way to see them all -->)

And, here are some misc. sketches I did a while back.  I'm thinking of doing a full piece for that ship with all of the grey space around it...but that won't be for a while.

Metroids Are Jerks
All this artwork is very well done.

Favorites gotta be the third picture in the first post (looks like Samus in her GF days), The Ice Armor (love the breath coming out of the helmet, very cool), and the sketch of the dude with the whip.

And is that Christmas Card 2001: A Space Odyssey, perhaps?  It's very well done.

Anatomy, fur, layering, eyes...Its really in the eyes too. They have enough of a look of a wolf....but not the "umph" your other pictures, or even creatures have. They seem also quick, and they may have been done fast, but mastery of their emotion-filled,deep eyes and fluid body and motion is also key. Brings out more of the "WOLF" feeling. You other pictures have it very nicely. Maybe its just something you need to work on. Like me and my figures, as Saber so loves to remind me.  :|
Thanks for the crit Canton.

Here's a new piece.  I'm trying something different here, using the techniques I used for the wolves.  I'll try this tech out more to see how viable a style it is.

Also, my Blog finally has its own domain name:

http://www.wolflog.com

I'm treating it more like a blog than I was before, posting videos and pics and stuff.

Last new tidbit.  I now have prints available, through the print-on-demand company, Lulu.  You can find links on my Blog, along with updates of new prints I'll be adding in the future.  I'll also include links to the first two here.

They ARE AMAZing!

Are you a graphic designer or draw/paint/print for a living? if not, get strait to it right now  grin new.

I'm mainly interested in the scifi/fantisy ones. I love to creat artwork like that. hopfully I can show you some of my artwork sometime.

I'm thinking about going to college for Graphic Design and make myself a career after I graduate.

anways keep it up.

Crit. from me: it may have already been said, your main character's torso is too long or somthing.

Yeah, 'cause that's just as easy as getting a glass of milk!

Rather than saying that, check if it's already been said. You should have already read at least the last few pages of a topic you're responding to (in this case, there's only one page, so there's no excuse to be responding without having read the topic).
Achilles
Yeah his torso bugs people.  Funny thing is...I reworked the character recently so he's nowhere near as ripped.  I'll have to post some of those sketches sometime.

Art school is a pretty good choice for people who want to follow a career in the art world.  There are two things I think you should consider before making the plunge.

1. Make sure the teachers know what they're doing before you sign up.  There's nothing worse than bad teachers.  Usually, the type to avoid are teachers who want to force you to draw like them, teaching style instead of technical skill.  The other type to avoid are teachers who have little or no real world experience.  I got lucky, almost all of the teachers I had knew what they were doing, had real world experience, and taught technical skills, not worrying about style.  There was only one who taught style over technical skill...and he lasted two years at the school before leaving.  You've also got to remember that, even though some artists may have a different style and have differing views as to the definitions of what is art, you're still going to an artist.

2.  If you want to do scifi stuff, you have to take lots and lots and lots of figure classes.  You have to take lots of figure classes and draw the from life A LOT.  I don't mean a couple sketches here-and-there, then move on.  I mean A LOT.

Anyways, yes, I do work in the art world.  I am currently working on a small time children's book series, doing cards, and trying to get my artwork out to as many people as possible.  Any art field is incredibly hard to break into, especially the game art world.  I've been trying that door for a year-and-a-half, and still haven't even gotten a glimmer.
This art is the kind of stuff I dream t of drawing when I was younger.

The Christmas tree ornament piece is now my desktop wallpaper.  grin new

Definitely unique and talented.  Keep it up.  Although you don't need us to tell you that.
Thanks cheater!

Here's a new one.
