One shall stand, one shall ball.
So I made a huge mistake and watched Evangelion since it's one Netflix now.

And, uh, I think I like Evangelion. I am furious.

red chamber dream
eva is good. just not like, the best series ever like weebs want it to be
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah, basically. It's still, like, the anime I've liked the most, probably lol. Despite having Some Problems.

And we all know those weebs were dumb teens that didn't understand any of it and were just jerking to Asuka the whole time.
red chamber dream

red chamber dream

One shall stand, one shall ball.
Oh no tdk is finally old enough legally gamble. Time to wither away.
Someone's lost a ton of weight, I see. Nice work, ark.

You know, everyone says to pay attention to all the Gnostic and psychological stuff to understand the backstory, but I found it easier to just view all the background details as a bizarre cosmic horror story.

You had this ancient race of aliens that wiped themselves out with some OP god power shit, so they split the remnants of themselves into two incompatible races that would try and exterminate exterminate each other on contact to prevent that OP god power shit from ever becoming a thing again. Humanity, a product of one of those races, makes contact with the other race on the moon, causing First Impact.

I wish the show went into that a bit more clearly rather than show Shinji rewinding his cassette player for the upteenth time.
yeah you're both looking pretty trim

I like both those shirts actually

vegas is funny lol, it has that artificial look about it that always looks like people have been green-screened into pictures

Literally nothing looks like it belongs there, yeah. It kinda rules. Maybe it's all the lights.

I mean ultimately for the show's purposes none of that actually matters, it's all set dressing for a story about depression, it's recursive nature, and all the performative bullshit people do to hide the fact that they aren't ok. Shinji's "It's okay for me to be here." breakthrough at the end of the series was the whole point. The backstory's importance is in laying out that the previous generation turbofucked the planet and left the following generations to just sort of deal with it while they went about "solving" the problem by mythologizing the past because Evangelion is Millennial as hell and hates the shit out of baby boomers and loves obfuscating it's points with large robot violence, goofy jokes, body horror, and being bizarrely horny.

It is totally a cosmic horror story but not in the shitty Lovecraft way where the Other is innately and irrevocably terrifying and will lead you to madness but in the actually good way where while the unknown is scary and the Other is always unknowable to some degree, that's actually fine, you're just as scary when the perspective is switched. And it's only as scary as you allow it to be.

I legit kinda hate how much this show just worked for me.

rearranged about half the furniture in my apartment. finally got my big display up to a wall... but the floor where it now stands is noticably sloped. is this thing considered normal? you'd think people building houses know what they're doing...
red chamber dream
i wouldn't say that's unusual

is it a wood floor? my wood floor dips down a bit in some places, it's designed for that
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Buildings settle over time, the ground shifts, there's allowance for that in the construction but after a point no building is gonna be perfectly level.
alright that makes sense, so no reason for me to get angry lol. it's wood floor too
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Lmao Lakers fans meting down and I am extremely Here For It.
red chamber dream
oh what, they got cousins and rondo? next season is gonna be so much fun to watch
red chamber dream
hilarious that they didn't get kawhi, but that would have been terrifying
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Kawhi joining the Clippers is just the funniest thing. The only thing that would have pissed Lakers fans off more would have been him going to Boston lol.
