LOL yes. I grew up in a house where the person who did all the shopping never bought mayo. My mother was not a health nut, but she was fat-phobic. We never had a bunch of things that many people consider to be a must-have on their shopping lists, like soda or mayo or white bread. None of us have ever been overweight so I thank her for that. Not sure how crappy mayo is for your waistline but it sure looks like lard to me.
We very rarely had fast food. I had my birthday party at McDonalds a couple of times and those parties were practically the only time we went there.
White bread is a starch, which can be thought of as a sugar. And the flour is bleached out for no reason other than looks. It's not easy to digest either. We always had whole grain bread. To this day I prefer it to white bread because white bread seems so bland and textureless. Switching to only whole grain bread is one of the easiest and most beneficial things one can do to improve their diet, imo.
Bleached bread and pasta are probably the two biggest contributors to poor health in an American diet and neither of them are even that good in and of themselves. My philosophy is, why not just skip the bland filler or at least sub in something better for you? Like, I make a really good spaghetti sauce and serve it over spiralized zucchini. Getting veggies, fats, and protein without the massive glucose spike.
mayo isn't bad for you. white bread definitely is though. i never thought of white bread as a staple—maybe for poor people. i grew up eating wheat and still only eat whole grain bread
this happens every year. apple sets the new standard for cameras, everyone else catches up and makes theirs slightly better, then it's apple's turn again
