Shall we celebrate with a quote tunnel?

Just kidding, actually, I know it's probably against the rules.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
On the subject of Star Fox 64 medals, Sector Z's medal really isn't as hard as it was always made out to be. I was playing through it a while a go and got the medal easily, even after Kat shot down one of the missiles.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
The thought of acquiring awards just brings back memories of attempting to earn everything in TimeSplitters 2, and how annoying it was that I couldn't beat my own records after a certain point. aiwebs_027

Did anybody else have any records for this game that they'd consider worthy of comment?  Mine'd probably be Pane in the Neck, which I got down to 5.6 seconds on the Xbox PAL version, but could never improve further.  I seem to remember that the best time available when I was trying it was 5.2, but much to my disgust, I found this after a quick search. I don't think I ever got a time worth mentioning, but I did at least clear arcade with all platnums.

I'm the sort of fellow who doesn't care about high scores or best times or that rubbish. It's not fun for me. I will play a game until it ceases being fun, and then I will not play it. I still run through SF64 from time to time, but going through again and again for the medals is not fun, so I don't do it.

How SF64's medals differ from getting platnums in TS2, I cannot say.

Star Fox 64's medals are pretty easy. You just need to shoot everything that moves with the blue lasers. If you want a challenge that will break your soul, try unlocking the Jet Vermilion in F-Zero: Maximum Velocity.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I thought you lot might like a giggle, so...

I was about to post in the 'Technical Issues' thread, because I have been unable to see any new posts in and of the threads since lunchtime, but when I went into the 'Technical Issues' thread, I had no reply button!  I hadn't changed anything, so I was a little worried about what had happened.

I was trying to think of a way around it; perhaps PMing (if it worked), or e-mailing a staff member, but then I realised I'd just been logged out.  d'oh!  It had just never happened before, as I checked 'Always stay logged in'. Embarassed

Anyway, feel free to giggle until you pee just a little, and then stop.

I hope these aren't school computers you're choosing to Stay Logged In on. >_>
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
IF I were young enough to still be at school, I probably would, just as a sort of technological rebellion.

Plus, if I ever got caught, I could use the old 'my wall's not four feet tall' trick, and escape, yelling in my best Duke voice: "Come get some!"

You getting in trouble at school over it isn't the point. It's others getting in trouble here on your account that could be the issue. I like to think the proper course of action if you find someone staying logged in as they leave is to use their account to confuse their friends and get them to ask you confusing and embarrassing questions about things that you didn't do.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I don't get to have that much fun.  I just get to stay logged in on my own computer, both at home and at work. aiwebs_027
I stay logged on to forums at school just because I know no one would visit a site like this.

Time to find out which school you go to, hehehe >=D

I just got me the Wii version of RE4. Seeing that you now actually EARN something for beating pro, I just might have to do that.

It's been a heluva long time since I played RE4 from scratch though. I'm not used to people not dying in one hit.
re4 wii ftw.

of course that's the only way i played it so i can't talk i guess.

Well, if it comforts you, it seems so far to be exactly the same but with sexier aiming. There's some subtle differences in weapon stats/cost according to a faq I just read, and of course the additional Ada mission, but the meat and potatoes is exactly the same.

Reportedly you can make the Wii version use the GCN controler. This doesn't seem to be an advertised feature, although the back of the box shows classic controler support.

Also, I never thought I'd say this, but waggle knife is <3
直死の魔眼使い
The knife is the single most useful weapon in the game until you get the Broken Butterfly or one of the more powerful shotguns, since ammo is usually very scarce, and shooting at people's knees and then knifing them down usually saves ammo incredibly. When one of the aforementioned two weapons come into play it's rather easier, since ammo for the Broken Butterfly is STILL scarce, but it can disintegrate people in a single headshot. =)

Then again, NOTHING stands against the mighty, all-powerful Handcannon, which is my weapon of choice. =)

Yep. Wonder how difficult RE5 will be at first, considering RE4 Wii is the only one I've ever played. Really going to miss the amazing controls.

Wow, never knew that. Perhaps there's hope for Prime Wii to include 'Cube controller support as well.

Eh? Ammo for the magnums is even scarcer, to the point where I only used it for bosses/El Salvadors, on the first playthrough at least. I actually didn't use the knife very much at all because it's generally not to difficult to just avoid enemies altogether. Conserving ammo was never that big of a problem. I've heard it's much more difficult in previous RE games.

I know how useful the knife is; I was referring to the fact that you can now simply swing the remote to slash. It makes breaking boxes and slashing grounded villagers quite less annoying.

I'm finding one drawback to knowing what's coming is that I'm not buying anything. I mean, I know I'm gonna need more shotgun firepower, and I should probably get the TMP already, but I can't justify spending money on weapons that will soon be obsolite. And I can't remember actually using the TMP for any reason other than I had too much TMP ammo. Hell, I'm not even buying a rifle until the semi-auto shows up. So I think I might be making things harder for myself right now. Damn if I don't have some money though.

I never buy any of the weapons upgrades until I have the best one. I always get the Punisher, then sell it, since the normal Handgun is better than the Punisher at level 1. Once the Red9 is available, I buy it immediately, sell the Handgun, and never look back. You don't even really need the stock due to the Wii's controls, but I've always had room for it anyway. No reason to ever get the Blacktail.

I also never get the Riot Gun— the Striker is available soon after the RG is, and the normal Shotgun is nearly as good as the RG anyway (at level 1).

Don't even bother buying a rifle until the semi-auto is available, since I never need to use it until the later levels. Once you've played through the game a few times it's all piss-easy anyway, so I rarely miss it.

I'm probably one of the few who actually does get the TMP, if only for the abundance of ammo. Doesn't do much as much total damage as other guns (because it can only damage one enemy at a time), but it's really useful on bosses, particularly Salazar, where you only have to pepper his arms a few times to reveal his eye. Also good to hold off a swarm of enemies or nail any stragglers.

Of course the Broken Butterfly is the best magnum; always buy it immediately and use it for bosses. On subsequent playthroughs I usually just skip most bosses via Rocket Launchers, so I end up with a ton of magnum ammo. Oh well.

Hate the Mine Thrower and never buy it.

Tooz: don't forget that all that extra money you have is going to disappear quickly once the briefcase upgrades become available. Fuck those.

This is the truth.

I'd already decided on most of what you said (although I'm keepng the Punisher for now, as I got all 15 medals and it is exactly 0.1 better). The only thing I'm still wrestling with is the TMP, as it takes heluva space with the stock.
red chamber dream
Eh, no real need for the stock with the Wii's controls. I've heard it's much harder to aim in the older versions.

And you're sure about the Punisher being .1 better than the Handgun? I remember it having .1 less firepower at every level; the only advantage is that it can shoot through multiple enemies (not very useful).

*checks GameFAQS* Says the Handgun is 1.0 at level 1, while the Punisher is .9, and I swear that's what I remember, too.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Just for fun, I'm deciding to ask a completely unrelated question about Toozin - where it says 'fun fact: Toozin's right eye sees only the past', does that mean that it has a delayed reaction in registering events, or does it mean it has some mystical power that allows it to view things that have already happened whenever he wants? laugh new [/poking fun at Toozin]

His left eye sees the future. And because he's seen the future, the present is already the past for him. He still acts accordingly.

Geez, it's a Cowboy Bebop refrence, you dorks.

And ark, if you get all the medals, the Punisher gets a free power upgrade, bumping it up to 1.1.
