Well the same thing applies, only it's even harder to mash two buttons at the same time. That would also make multiple dodges a bit harder. Well, they should have just done that instead.
Yea, also the fact samus jump / flips out the way makes jump seem like it's needed for a dodge move.

and because it's two buttons and harder to mash together = less incentive to rely on it all the time
But then you'll probably be jumping when you are trying to dodge, and dodging when you are trying to jump.
All it would take to make sure you dodge is to just let go of direction for a split second before doing the simultaneous hit of direction and jump. I can see that working just fine.

But if you accidently dodge when you mean to jump I can't see that being too detrimental really. Unless your trying to clamber up some structure and an ememy is attacking you. But you'd most likely be holding direction anyway so you won't dodge, so I think would be fine.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
If it is possible to accidentally execute an action you have no intention of performing then you have failed at control mapping.

Basically every control issue could have been solved by just using a proper controller. Even just the nunchuck would have allowed for a better dodge mechanic.
It's clear they just tried to be original and clever with the wiimote on it's own thing. Trying to be overtly accessable and overtly simplified. If they just had more faith and let the game be controllable with a classic or wiimote and nunhcuck it could have been redeemable.

the semsemove really seems like it was made for hard mode since you need to dodge almost everything to stay alive. leaving the mechanic as-is for normal makes the normal game pretty easy overall once you stock up on some e-tanks.
a few times i noticed that mindless mashing didn't work was when dodging ridley's repeated tail attacks. you need to dodge with a certain timing to avoid all hits but it doesn't take long to figure out. outside that, practically anything can be dodged by going left-right when the enemy attacks.
I could be wrong (probably am) but I'm sure I just ran away from Ridleys tail attacks and I was ok.

Also, it appears you can't go through the Queen Metroid's flames with sensemove. I also had trouble dodging the Varia bosses sweeping attack. Jumping over it seemed to work better.

would you guys like this boxart better?

One shall stand, one shall ball.
The "Baby" ESRB rating is a nice touch.

Come on, you could have done something to Adam's face.

I actually enjoyed the game, but I am pretty disappointed myself. Parts where you're forced to look around until you found what THEY wanted you to find, pissed me off. I haven't even finished the game yet. I assume you need to use power bomb when you grapple into the queen Metroid...Where do you go to activate the power bombs??!?! WTF? I hate this game.
Your power bombs have mysteriously been activated when you grapple into the queen metroid.  I guess they just assume that you would just know that for some reason.  Just another example of 'What were they thinking?' game design of Other M.

That part was a bit odd, but I actually liked it. Granted, it wasn't anything you could reasonably be expected to get on your first try, but remembering it back from the beginning of the game, putting it together with what I remembered about the Queen Metroid, and figuring it out was quite satisfying.

i knew you had to PB the queen mostly from M2 runs i've seen so it was a no brainer to try, even if the PBs hadn't been "activated". i died once because i realized this halfway after being eaten.
but yeah, it is a byproduct of the completely stupid plot device to limit Samus' equipment.

With a checkpoint literally five seconds before, I really can't see a reason to care.
when it doesn't give you any clue as to what to do, a quick respawn doesn't exactly give you ample time to think about your options, making the problem worse.

As I'm sure I've said before, If I remember right I tried bombing her the first time I went in because of my ROS knowledge, but nothing happened. I simply tried the next biggest thing in my arsenal the second time around, and when you are in Morph Ball mode in a spot where you're obviously supposed to go there's only one thing left for you to do. I say this because why else would they deliberately let you grapple your way into the Queen's mouth if there was no way out or no way to harm her? Sure, having a few more seconds in there the first time around wouldn't have hurt to let people realize bombs weren't working and give them time to charge up a Power Bomb, but it's still the idea.

I care because being killed and having to sit through a loading screen for reasons that are not entirely clear is annoying and stupid. Regardless of the checkpoint you still have to redo shit because the game said so and gives you no indication of what you did wrong. I'm sure there are people that forgot about having power bombs at all, and I know I had to try it a one more times because I died before I could fully charge the one on the second attempt.

That thing kills you extraordinarily quickly, if it gave you more time so you could see bombs are not the solution and to give a power bomb a shot it'd be a bit better. And if it just told you you could actually use your damned power bombs it'd be a non issue and the checkpoint wouldn't be needed. And the first time you do that you don't know that there's a checkpoint and those next few moments while it reloads are the most frustrating moments in the entire game.
