opium, you must have gotten another game, the auto targeting work wonderfully..

Guess she got a review copy, her's is a pretty common complaint.

and, yes you can just pass by most of the monsters, like other metroids.

so I'll probably get this game then.
The only time I had issues with the auto aim that I can think of was with the final boss, but I think it's designed like that because the enemy was clearly dodging most of my attacks.
kes, the difference is that on my own I can fire 5 shots and kill 5 enemies.  With Other M's targeting, every third or fourth shot misses.  It's nowhere near as accurate as a real person.  Especially when the enemy is at your feet.  It's as if samus has tunnel vision and can't even see the damn thing right in front of her feet.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
You don't understand that's actually a clever call back to Metroid 1.

Perhaps, but I don't want to play a new game in 2010 that suffers from the same limitations as my least favorite title from 24 years ago.  That's not clever to me at all.

oh.. just noticed that I made a serious reply to a t-bob post.

Seriously though, I bet if you tried you could make everything shitty about Other M sound like a positive by making tenuous connections to previous games and calling it fan service. If you like fan service that is.

On topic, I am extremely disappointed with the Pre-Order Art Folio.

The paper was so sub par that it made the images (which were probably very hich quality) look incredibly pixelated.
Just hold onto it for a few years and then put it on ebay.
So Opium, Ark, Prime Hunter, TB, Mr Mills (although I think I know your answer 'Drew lol). To get the game, or to not get the game. Don't know why I value your opinions more, but c'est la vie. I'm not the guy who buys mediocre games, I only have time, or make time, for the best games. I'm torn...

i haven't played it. lol.
Well shit, you must be torn too! haha Oh forgot Paraxade's opinion!
red chamber dream

Think of it as Fusion 2, with a not-emmy-winning story.

There will be parts you dislike, and parts you like. But no game's perfect. Read all the reviews around here (there's a lot), take into account they're biased, and judge for yourself.

Personally, I loved Fusion, and can live with a mediocre story or telling of that story. None of the other complaints really matter to me.

In other words, know what you're getting into (or common consensus on what you're getting into) and you'll enjoy it. This isn't the second comming, but it's good.

opiun, you must have a SERIOUS problem with action games... the only shots i missed were when the enemies dodged it
(like that damn metroids, that just dodge everything!)

in fact, other M shooting is way more precise than the prime seires, at least here, charged shots have some use...

Auto aim being sketchy is a failing of the game not the player, the player doesn't have much say, that's why it's auto aim. And seriously, pretty much every review mentioned the auto aim not always working as well as it should. I'm inclined to believe that she's not the problem.

If you're going into the game and expecting it to be on par with the best of the best in terms of Metroid, there's going to be something that will disappoint you in the end. Fusion is definitely the game that this mirrors the most, and I'd say that taking your opinion of Fusion into account is the best bet as to whether or not you'll enjoy this one. The action is very intense, and if you're also not expecting the greatest story ever told that is probably a plus as well. I found the story to be decent overall, so it was actually a bonus for me since going in I didn't know what to expect and a lot of the opinions around here may have led me to believe it was going to be a complete disaster.

In other words, if you've paid enough attention to the way Metroids have been made since Zero Mission came out in 04, you'll probably have a good idea what the core gameplay will be like.
Personally, I think Metroid as a series is done.  The exploration aspect is over.  Another game like Super will never happen again...we will be told where to go from now on which is not Metroid to me.  I have been a long time Metroid fan for a long time and I will no longer just buy because it is Metroid.  Other M is showing where they are taking the series and I hate it.
I like turtles.
I don't hate it, per se, but unless Nintendo removes the rigid linearity, the series is as good as over.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Anyone who has been paying attention, either to previews or the progression of the series, should have known what was coming. I was not dissapointed simply because I knew what to expect.
Just because they're going in this direction doesn't mean they won't turn back.

yeah it's certainly happened before -- look at prince of persia.

problem with that was i actually liked what they did with pop 2008. ;(
