Time bomb set get out fast!
This is not a drill.
DrewSeph has been talking for years about making an "Axeil" edition of Redesign, named after the LPer whose first experience with walljumping was truly something awful. This new version would fix some of the common complaints about the hack. A long time passed, and I figured it was probably not too likely that Drew would ever have time to do it.
He did. It's done. Axeil Edition is live. (Patch is currently on v1.4, 1.5 in progress.)
Be sure to read the readme before you start. There are changes everywhere, and they go far beyond the cosmetic. The first really major one is walljumping, which is now done by holding jump and pushing off the wall, not pressing jump again. It's such a simple, obvious improvement that I don't know how I'll ever go back.
Debate is raging over this hack. The review page and thread at MetConst are split between those who love it and those who think the old problems have been replaced with new ones. (I'm not done playing myself yet, but so far I lean heavily toward the former view.) Drew is reading the comments and continuing to work on the hack; several major complaints have already been fixed in v1.4.
It's not every day that a seminal hack is reborn. Go play it!
