The bomb-jump physics are not broken. Fall speed was increased game-wide, which means you fall faster from any jump, including bomb / springball jumps. Learning the timing for the IBJ in this is no different to learning it in the original game. If you're unsure on the timing, I have some videos that may help. One is a tall room, but it scrolls, and the other is in a smaller room, and it doesn't scroll.

"No different! Only different in your mind" doesn't apply to Redesign
What I meant was that when you played Super Metroid, and first tried to do the IBJ, you couldn't do it. It was only after practicing that you learned to do it. Doing the same thing for Redesign is no different.
I suck at Redeign IBJ and Ice Metal IBJ, the normal IBJ is simple for me. But I agree with Quietus on this one, practicing it like you did for the original will make it possible to do.
I always have to re-learn IBJ in Redesign each time I play it. The IBJ in the original game sticks with me like riding a bike, but Redesign IBJ doesn't seem to want to stay in my brain for some reason.
