Yeah, thats the Eris map, I can tell.

Riffman81: Digital_Mantra the creator of the hack was requesting a higher res pic so he could read what you put on the back of the cover.  He got banned from here for a stupid reason, so I'm asking in his place! :D

Your welcome. Also, if anyone needs any covers for their Super Metroid hacks, let me know. I'm still confused as to what hacks can actually be put onto an SNES cart. I tried with SM Redesign and it was a no go due to the size of the ROM.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
That is likely to be the only one, as it's bigger than the others by far.

Thanks alot Riffman81!

I don't come around here very often anymore, I only came because Quietus there told me about this box cover you did. :P

Most of the hackers don't hang around here anymore.... I remember the good old days though.
Everyone's over at metconst nowadays...

I guess I'm not the most part of the hackers, LOL.

Looks like I'd better register over at Metroid Construction as well then :)
Wow, Eris is the first hack I've played that actually feels like an entirely new planet. It feels completely alien to me, which works beautifully for Metroid. Aside from a few minor design choices (Spore Spawn's room Evil or Very Mad) this has been an amazing trip so far! I've gotten to the Speed Booster and I am saved back at the ship with no clue where to progress, but I'll find it soon enough. (Unfortunately the path I thought was next simply took me back to the ship, but now I have a nice shortcut) Interesting to note that, unlike almost every other hack I've tried, I have rarely used the map (Complete map, not in game map) as an indicator of where I should go next. The only times I can think of where I studied it specifically were for the Morph Ball and the section after Spore Spawn when I didn't think to try going up.

So far everything I've seen is leading me to think that this is the best hack of Super Metroid I've played up to this point. A lot of the aesthetics are making me heavily reconsider what I had planned for the areas of the world I'm working on, since one of the major areas I'm putting in is completely frozen over. THAT is how good Eris looks - Beautiful, but deadly. The perfect fit for a prime Metroid experience.

I was wondering if there's an unheadered patch anywhere. I find myself unable to requisition a headered rom, and this isn't my SMILE computer. It's too slow for that.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
You should be fine with SMILE on there.  It's not like you have to do anything with it, just open a room, and add / remove the header.

The thing is I don't wanna put SMILE on this thing, its loaded down as it is, and can barely handle what it has. It's rather old. I guess I should take it that there are no unheadered patches floating around anywhere, then?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Not that I'm aware of.  Without wishing to sound like I'm badgering, are you certain about SMILE?  It has no installation, as it runs from the folder, and is less that 4MB.  You can immediately delete it all...
The wandering Space Dragon
Did that, forgot how convenient it was. Anyway, now...I'm getting brutally murdered without end by this game.
Are those things that get killed by ball bombs GUARDING the ball bomb? Really?
If I remember right, Eris actually modifies part of the header, which is why you won't find any unheadered patches for it.

The above has been resolved. I was way off.

And, after seeing the '4 artifacts still needed' bit, I am not surprised at this, because, it's amazing that they got that in there, IMO. This entire hack seems to go above and beyond what I've seen so far. It is also very difficult.
I mean, a metroid that early, and no way to fight it? Scared the crap out of me until I figured out a way past.

Word on the cyberstreet is that DMantra is creating a 1 year anniversary version of Eris.
It will contain subtle things like better aesthetics in places, many more hints to items people had issues finding, less damage from certain enemies, and possibly more.
Overall I hear it's still pretty much the same game. Nothing to get that excited over.

'Tis true.  He announced it a while back, and is indeed making most of the alterations you mentioned.
can you guys help me? Im looking for the proper rom to run this thing, the headered rom I recently downloaded crashes the game (NTSC vs PAL) All of the NTSC ones are unheadered, can anyone find me an NTSC ROM of Super Metroid that is Headered?
Yoshi is back
Sorry, no one can.
Not allowed to post roms not IPS'd on the forum.
It's in the rules
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
fraroc: Download SMILE, load it, open the ROM, select a room from the obvious drop-down list, click Tools > Header > Add Header.  Job done.

Dave: No ROMs are allowed, even ones that have been patched.  Only the .ips file itself is acceptable.

Hello, psychedelic fellow. ;)

EDIT: hmm, which ips file one is supposed to get his hands on?

the OP links to one of a different size from the ones linked at both:
http://www.metroidconstruction.com/hacks.php?h=h6
http://www.digital-mantra.com/eris/

So, that takes us up to three different versions, if I am counting correctly. <(+_+)>
My headered patch is 640KB and it works fine.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Grab the one directly from DMan's site.  And remember it's one of the few that's headered.
Hi everyone !
I'm going crazy ! Mad ! Insane !
I tried many times but I can't play to SM Eris !
I use Lunar IPS to patch my rom and Znes just doesn't work... Only a black screen...
I tried with several different roms, several different Super Metroid (JU).smc and the result is just the same.

Please give me not the hacked rom but a link, or a tip to find it... Please please please...

(Sorry to bother you)
