In the ship, the space pirates need glasses.

You can space jump right above one's head, and it will only notice you when you hit it :P

They cannot shoot straight up, (Which i find is a stupid programming error, as they should be able to) so even if they know you are there, they will shoot diagonally :P

There is a VERY stupid pirate, the last one you see if you are headed str8 to mecha ridley. You can hover on the right hand ledge for hours (Well, i presume, i've hung there for a couple minutes) And he will NEVER notice you. Wow. They need to be supplied glasses/contacts/dunce caps.

Gladly, someone else noticed. :P Although their utter dumbness has been exploited many a time already, in several runs throughout the users... :P
They're Space Pirates! If you're expecting them to be smart, you're expecting too much.

Yeah, I know that others have noticed,  Rolling Eyes  but its still funny watching them shoot at you in vain :)

Well, actually, I would think that Space Pirates are very smart. They built huge labs, run many experiments on Metroids, know how to mine and use Phazon, can make Troopers with weapons mimicking those of Samus, etcetera. They sound smart to me.
I think it's the individual Pirates that are not the smart ones... The head of them may be, but not the soldiers/troopers themselves...

I guess. They're kind of like the human race, only our leaders aren't always too smart either :D
So, emergency trip to the Hospital for my Father-in-Law, then Mother-in-Law, then once again Father-in-Law, all in 24 hours with little to no sleep.  Every time I grab my GBA (unfortunately not a GPA SP, the burning of my eyes!) with Zero Mission.  After beating it 4 times in a row I get to the point where all you have is the emergency pistol and start to play with the Pirates.  It's fun abusing their vision radius and even more fun to taunt them...but the absolute best part is to try to clear rooms of the pirates.  Not possible through the energy pistol, but with their own shots...  It's not easy to do, especially getting the last two to line up and shoot eachother...well when you're exhausted, haven't tried it again with a decent amount of sleep.
a new speed run category? :> fastest time to passive-aggressively eliminate the pie rates?

That was one of the more random statements I've heard all day.

The Pirates that think of that stuff are the few smart ones, most Pirates I encountered in the games arent as smart as they might sound. Just think of MP2 scans.

BABY METROIDS ARE NOT PETS!

Yeah, but looking at the Pirates as a race, they are pretty intelligent.
Think humans, but backwards. Individuals are quite smart but how the hell do we screw over so badly collectively?

Edit and revise the post to form...
Quote from Ekarderif's post to fit what I think is more correct:
Individuals are quite stupid (usually).

ummmmm...finders keepers?
yup, they are insanely dumb, i mean, just look at my vid (calm space pirate), it just walks up to me, set off the alarm, and waits for me to blow its brains out. And that DOES NOT work with other pirates. i carefully screw attacked my way up to another and lured it down there, but it attacked me when i was up on the platform oh yea, i forgot, nate can you change that to Moronic space pirate? Laughing
i like "calm" so much better, though. it's like "a different breed of pirate" ... being moronic is nothing special if you're a pie rate.
lol, i made an edit up there too, i did it again a while back, and i forgot to send it.

*edit you said pie rate!
