Ridley cheesing strat

What's the trick behind the Ridley cheesing strat? I'm playing in hard mode and I have 449 energy, 66 missiles, and 2 supers. When I encounter Ridley I stay under his claws like the video shows, but after awhile the cheese strat stops working, then he clobbers me with his tail and farts on my remains. :(

I'm no ajbolt89, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind.. I eventually figured out that you have to get away during his fireball attack and wait for him to return to that moving up and down attack pattern trying to grab you to resume the cheesing strat.

Too much damage/second causes Ridley to spazz out and violate Samus repeatedly with his tail.

If you launch one missile every second (or 2 seconds) he won't swing his tail at you (I think). Fire too many shots too quickly and he'll go psycho and smash you up with his tail.

And if you're using supers, make sure you wait 10 seconds or more before you fire #2, because firing a super is like firing 5 missiles at the same time, which usually makes Ridley use his tail.

or you could just fire all of your super missiles at the start of the battle while he is sitting there spitting fire :?

AFAIK, hitting him while hes doing the big fireball attack makes him have fun with his tail!

Yes it does that pissed me off majorly quite a few times in my any % runs.
