Maybe you've already talked about this, I don't know it's my first post, but I read something interesting in a Walkthrough/FAQ. Someone wondered why you can't use the 3 unknown items untill the end of the game. It's a reference to Kid Icarus. In Kid Icarus you have to collect 3 items and you can only use them at the end of the game. The Items are: Lightarrows, which can go through multiple enemies(Plasmabeam), Pegasuswings, enables unlimited flight(Space Jump) and Mirror Shield, extra protection(Gravitysuit). I think it's pretty neat.

Huh, that is interesting.
I never played Kid Icarus but it sounds like you're right. It could be a coincidence, though.
if it weren't for the original metroid's relationship to kid icarus, i would probably say it's just a coincidence.
what relation? i wouldn't know, seeing as i never played kid icarus, but i've seen screens, and they don't look connected...
it's thought that kid icarus is a metroid clone. that is, the same engine from metroid was used to make kid icarus.
oh. hehe, i learned something today. i think it's a coincidence, either that or nintendo copied the "unkown item" thing from kid icarus. we shall never know, will we? Wink

And the fact that Metroid's themselves make a cameo appearance in the game ;)

I gave my damn copy of Kid Icarus (the gameboy version) away so I can't really go through and compare.  They did feel similar though.

i love kid icarus. both yokoi games, i believe.
question: are copies rare? i want to play it so i can have my own opinion in this matter. Laughing
just get a revolution and play it on that.

but to answer your question, i have no idea. you might try typing kid icarus in on ebay.
i'll try ebay first, since, you know, it exisits at this point in time. lol. Laughing

It looks also like a Metroid clone, if you ask me...

nah, icarus is level-based and has no special skills besides one badass angel with arrows. it's more similar to metroid than other games of its era, but i never would consider it to be a close relative.
looks like a 'troid clone to me...the heart is like the "en" from metroid, the little square is like an energy tank. heck, even the lava looks the same...looks like a clone to me, cap'n Wink .

They used the same engine, as far as I know.

Of course, I've never played Kid Icarus, so...*goes to find a copy*

Read the topic, man.  >_>

EDIT:  Uh, referring to Mr. Shark.

Yeah, I ended up posting long after I first read the topic, so I forgot that nate had said that.  I was going to go back and fix it, but...too late.

heh that's interesting.

now if they remade that game using MZM's engine, it would be the shit :p
eh, not really. i heard the game really sucked.

kid icarus sucked?

aw naw. your ears need some adjusting.
well, that's what you get for not playing the game: ignorance.
Then why are you voicing an opinion about the quality of the game and the desirability of a remake?
