...Is possible, needs just a well-timed underwater walljump.
In the PCU room, go to as far as you can go, now you should stop because of the Speed booster wall, but fear not! Shoot the floor, and jump in the sparkling water, go left, and jump up (Beware the electric...Thingy.). Now, when in the little space of 16-pixels, press A Again, Samus will somersault. Now start UWJing, and proceed upwards, until you grab the ledge. Now there should be nothing on your way, take the lonely Missile package, and Continue left. Climb the wall and jump out of the water into the Controlling thing-whatever. This trick doesn't help you much, but it's cool to show it to your friends!

You've actually done this?
If so, on what version?
I tried this before, but it wouldn't work, so I stopped.

This could (not sure) be useful on speedrunning (if done quickly enough, as there would be less backtracking after Serris).

Well I couldn't do it either, you don't get enough height to start walljumping.

No, you can't skip Serris, you still need the speedbooster.

Edit: That's even if you can get out past the Boost Block/Bomb Block wall between most of AQA and Adam's bit.

I hate to have to be the one to say this but Metroid Jelly overlooked one minor detail. Or, more likely, he's lying.
The switch doesn't work.
I was wondering if anything would happen with the rest of the game, so I used a code for always having a shinespark charged (but still not have Speed Booster) and the switch isn't a switch until you get the Speed Booster.

When you kill Serris, the Pump control unit switch will activate. I didn't say anything of it, that's why i said it's a neat thing to show your friends, and doesn't help you much.

It's same as going to the Operations room early. The switch is not up, so you can't stand on it.

This all is because of the one thing: Adam does not give you the mission to do the things you aren't allowed!
