Haven't read it all yet, m'self, but it's relevent to our interests.
Thread title:
The best part to me is where they tell you that there are people who worked on the handhelds involved, particularly the map designer.

"Also on Nintendo’s side are three other key people who have experienced development on the handheld Metroid games. One gentleman was responsible for designing the maps, another gentleman was actually a designer, so he’s more experienced in developing the visuals of the game, and then we’ve also got one gentleman who was a programmer on the handheld games, and he’s doing more project management."

A metroid game has to have a cleverly designed map, and if it has the same innovation that ZM had only this time in 3D then we should be in for one kickass layout.
That line gives me more hope for how the game's maps will be presented. The core 2D games have always had high quality map layouts for the most part, and if this is translated into 3D at all it will make a lot of fans very pleased.

I’m hoping to tie the Super Metroid and Fusion stories together, and until I do that I can’t think about what happens after Fusion, but if the concept does come to me I’d like to continue the story and see how far it can go.

*sad face*  No Metroid 5 for now...
red chamber dream
everything i read about other m makes me more eager to play it. somehow it doesn't seem like this will be a disappointing game.

I wouldn't go quite so far as to say that, but it is looking better the more I hear.  That initial trailer set my expectations about as low as they could go, and the first interview I read, comparing its progression to Fusion, managed to keep them there.  Since then, things like this have brightened the outlook a little.  I still expect it to be among the least of the series, but the bottom of Metroid's barrel is still a notch above the majority of games out there, so it should be fun regardless.

So let's just hope that they don't mess the story so SM and Fusion get well tied up and we can get our M5 before 2012 or so
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai

hmm with this it would seem the Dread idea is more likely to be a remake of M2 since he said he had that idea in his mind already from some time ago.

either way, this game sounds like it is in good hands. i hope everything progresses smoothly.
Annoying
I'm happy as long as thier making it.
Abandon All Hope !!
We see in this will give good results!
After all 3 teams involved will not be so hard to leave a masterpiece
