Apparently, according to one of the FAQs I read, the Prime Hunter gets affinity bonuses for the Power Beam and Omega Cannon as well as all the other affinity bonuses. I read that the Power Beam "curves" when fired, like Adventure Mode, whatever that means. I also read that the Omega Cannon fires a lot faster if you're the Prime Hunter.

Can anyone (a) please explain what that Power Beam thing is about, as I don't understand a word of it, and (b) please confirm whether it's even true or not? Thanks!

plasma beam v.2.0
it means that, lets say samus, is the prime hunter.  she can use the imperialist and cloak, the jucator will freeze, the shock coil will regain... would regain health if it were posible to get health in prime hunter... and the others do what they do for the hunter they go with.  a charged power beam will curve slightly when fired.
I know about the affinities for the UA weapons, but I don't understand this curving thing. Does it mean that a charged power beam slightly homes in on its target?

And does the Omega fire faster if you're the PH?

1, yes.  to a 30ish degree angle... yes i actually tried to measure that.
2, you can play PH in oubliete?  or are you one of those people who jump through walls fires the OC and jumps back out? -> aka a huge cheater. which i hope your not.

edit, hit tab then enter without finishing
I've never played multiplayer online. Loads of bot matches, but no online play, yet. I will probably do at some point, but I'm worried about glitchers, hackers, cheaters etc. What are the chances of getting a good Wi-Fi match where people don't abuse the system, and where I actually have a chance, seeing as I'm pretty new to it?

You can play PH in Oubliette, but I haven't done, yet. I'll maybe give it a go and see if there's any difference, in a bit.

Cheaters aren't quite as rampant because most of them moved on when everyone they played against was cheating too ;) There are still some but you can get some good matches online.
That's good to hear about there being less cheaters online, but I haven't played Hunters in months now. It was because of that very reason, and the fact that I could rarely get into a match with someone from here, that more or less drove me away.

I must admit, seeing the title of this topic made me do a double take and have to check it out, for obvious reasons. Wink

Omega Cannon fires much faster when you're the Prime Hunter. Like in Adventure mode, except it still has that mondo blast radius.
Fortunately, there are far less hackers/cheaters/spammers than there were before, but unfortunately, that number is still extremely high (6-700s?).  All I do is reboot the DS and keep trying until I get a legit player.  As for the chances, I'd say about 1 out of 15 games you'll get at least one non-cheater/spammer/hacker.  Also, if you want to decrease the number of times you'll lose against a hacker/spammer/cheater, hit left once when selecting a stage as quickly as you can to do the random stage.

how do you even cheat like that.  i would think the service would lockdown anyone with like an AR.
Well, somehow they get through... I don't know, because the only cheating device I've ever owned was the Game Genie for the NES...

Anyway, I've tested the Omega Cannon in Oubliette, and it does indeed fire much faster for the Prime Hunter!

What do you mean, 1 in 15 games you won't end up against a cheater/etc.? Does this mean that 14 out of 15 games will be unfair? There surely can't be that many cheaters online?!?

That's what it used to be like, and why I don't play online anymore. I'm not sure how it is now though.
Oh, believe me, it's terrible (in my area, at least).  I've been getting an idea that maybe Nintendo should put out a remake with all the glitches fixed.  That wouldn't stop spammers, but we get to know their names (Samus, -samus-, morphball, power, etc.) fairly well.  It would also be nice if we could get a group of people together that just beats up spammers/cheaters/hackers, or have the big "N" get some guys out there to ban them from wifi.

Cheating seems to be getting more and more popular.

Unless you use the Friend/Rival games, probably.  Don't use question marks in statements.  It's bad for you.
