I've found that taking a break to do some 1% Fusion runs seems to help be perform better on 100% single segments. My last 3 runs have all been sub 1 hour: 58:11, 58:27, and 59:27 (this one was last night...sucked hardcore).

Sometimes playing a different game for a little while will help  :)
I've noticed something like that with ZM. When I've been playing for a few days my wall jumping(up one wall) gets kinda crappy, but if I take a break for a day or two it will be better again.
New Normal 100% record (on tape):

57:06 single segment.

And unless the Japanese guy with the 53:08 can cough up some video proof, as far as I'm concerned I hold the world record  Twisted Evil
lol no way
AAAWESOME!! I can't wait to see it! God you make me sick.. Single-Segments are like the hardest things in the universe.
I need to watch the tape myself and see just where I screwed up. All I remember clearly is that all but 2 mini-boss/boss battles sucked hardcore.

What... it's been taking up space in my closet for about a year now.

Haha, I don't have anywhere to put it though. Maybe I could just rub neon paint all over it so it glows...oooo...glowy...  Wink
I wanted that,so I could throw it in a fire and whatch it burn! Twisted Evil

I CANT WAIT FOR THE VID!!!
I just watched the vid myself...I'm not exactly sure HOW the flickerbat I managed a time that good. All but the Charge Beam Centipede and Acid Worm battles sucked hardcore. Tourian wasn't very friendly either. Not to mention all the n00bish mistakes I made throughout the entire run.

Kraid: All I need to do is cram 1 more missile down his throat, and I fall. I try to jump back up but hit a fingernail. Had to wait for the lint to stick in the wall before I could take any more shots.

Cocoon Wasp: Went well until after my 2nd shot. Normally I start by pumping 3 supers into it's left side, freezing the ripper and shooting 9 more missiles in to the right side. After the 2nd shot I hit one of the spores and fell in the water, and didn't get up in time to freeze the ripper so I had to jump shoot the right side with the 9 missiles.

Ridley: I only have 7 supers going into this battle now with the route change I made. I missed and hit his tail with one.

Tourain: In the last room before the final save point I didn't kill one metroid I had froze when I thought I had pressed the button enough times. It grabbed me so I had to bomb out of it, which gave the other one time enough to unfreeze and beeline for me. I ended up having to bomb out of them like 4 or 5 times before I could take shots again.

Mother Brain: Actually didn't go that badly. Just started off bad since right after I blew the tank open I fell in the magma.

Chozo Ghost (for fully powered suit): First 3 shots were perfect, then it decided to only show the symbol while I was calling lightning, so I was busy dodging.

Metal Ridley: This was nothing more than piss-poor aim on my part. I blew all my supers and had to finish it with normals.

So are we talking 3-4 minutes of improvement here? Cool.
Hah! I wish it were that much. Its not THAT bad time wise, but visually it doesn't look very impressive due to all the little mistakes and boss screwups.
So you're saying you can do the run again and get a better time. Laughing
Absolutely...with a little luck anyway Wink
So you'll be trying for 56:xx and not mailing the tape of the 57?
Nah, I'm gonna mail it and switch to working on my single-segment 1% Fusion run. I've been kinda going back and forth between them for a little while now, mainly when luck just didn't want to be on my side for a particular game. It just happened that I had some extremely good luck with MZM on that day (on most everything except bosses anyway  Wink ).

My 1st Fusion run today I managed to make it to Nightmare without much trouble, and almost took him out (needed like 3-5 more charged shots). Seems like I'm having some luck there so I'm gonna finish that run before going after 56:xx (or 55:xx with some EXTREME luck)
lol no way
Ah, can't wait to see 55:xx. You rock dude, hahaha.
Ah ok... do you have nate's new address?
Yeah, I got it already.

Just managed to get to Nightmare AGAIN on the 1%. He schooled me this time though (ie, was being cheap and always moving in a way that was impossible to avoid).

Here's some references as to how long it takes to get to each place I might have trouble with, and how many times it's done me in (according to how long the VCR said I had been taping):

Serris: 25 minutes (fell in the water on the Core-X) - 2 deaths - 91% success
Mega-X: 40 minutes - 5 deaths - 75% success
Space Pirate Gauntlet: 60 minutes - 1 death - 93% success
Yakuza: 65 minutes - 8 deaths - 43% success
1 hit kill Wasps: 65 minutes - 2 deaths - 67% success
Nightmare: 75 minutes - 3 deaths - 25% success
Ridley: 90 minutes - 1 death (died to the Core-X! ARRRRGGGGHHHH!) - 0% success
Total attempts: 22

I'm sure I'll find more...Nettori has been playing nice but I'm sure it will want it's own share of me one of these times, and SA-X and Omega Metroid haven't even had a shot at me yet.
Normal 100%: 1:14.  My best time yet for a 100% run.
Easy 9%: 1:04
Hard 15%: 1:11
10% Hard Single Segment: 1:01:xx
The first time I had?
Dif.: Normal
Time.: 2:14
Item%.: 78%

I think it was easy ;-)
the first time i beat it i got

Difficulty: Normal
Time: 7:39:13 :(
%: 100 :)
One question...
Is 43:05 good for any %?
Because that is the best time i got...
It's not bad, but the record is 29:xx.
Well, my time for completing Metroid Zero Mission is  1:27:56 ,100% on Time Attack mode.
