Hi Guys  :D

I'm new at this board and wanted to post my times. ;)

First MZM run ever was pretty crappy:
Easy - 9:3x:xx - 6x%

But well, it was my first run. :)
Next one was better - 6 hours better :D
Normal - 3:3x:xx - 94%

And now finally after some frustrating "save - load - fail - load"-trys I finally managed it to do a sub 2-hour run @ hard. :) And I'm kinda proud, cause it was my own route and it was only the third time playing through the game. ^^
Hard - 1:52:49 - 100%

Next time I will follow RedScarlet's route I think.. could be possible to get out a sub 1:30 run. We'll see. :)

First run (last night): Normal - 3:4x:xx - 69%

I think this game is a bit too easy... or maybe my attempts at running Super is really paying off :D

Well thanks.. just a question, I know you record your movies on TV.. but do you use GameBoy Player with GBA-Controller? Or what? o_O

And how often did you beat the game now? (I know you don't play it at the moment..)

Wow. As usual, very little SB in my runs. Just early Varia. And yet around 5 minutes better than my last 100% game.

My best 100% time was when I was trying to get the 100% in under two hours ending on hard. It was 1:38:xx.

I bought a Hori pad to play, but it doesn't fire very rapidly (had to use my GBA as a controller for fighting Kraid).

Um..probably gone through the game about 20ish times or so.

Like, 34 minutes or so... I'm just before MB with like 21 minutes... so yeah. It won't be perfect, but it should be good. I plan on going from before MB to after the new suit (again). It's way faster, although far more difficult than it was on normal mode, since I die in 1 hit from both the pie rates and from the test deal... oh well. I plan on having this run done by like end of two days from now... I really want to do another 100% hard run, heh.

Normal: 59:33 - 35%

2nd Time I finish the game and first attempt at speed running.
For this run I didn't watch any vid or looked at any route or anything, I wanted to do it by myself and I'm pretty happy with the time I got :)

Basically when playing, I took my last save, played a little to see where I had to go till the next save i'd take, and then do it for speed. I forgot to take the super missil tank before ridley so that cost me 2-3 mins of backtracking but I didn't really care. I skipped varia, screw attack and high jump, as I really couldn't think of a place where they would have been so useful.

I am now going to download the speed run vids and make a new speed run, don't know if it'll be 100% or any%, but it certainly won't be a low%. Seeing as I had troubles beating motherbrain with 599 life, 4 supers and 75 missils >_>

Is there anything in Gamecube04 or Scarlet's route that might be a little hard for a beginner?

Just skip some of their tricks, but follow their routes.

well, in gamecube04's route, the only trick i had trouble with was skipping the acid worm. In RS's run, i still can't do kraid without power grip, so you might have a problem with that. Those are the only things i can think of though.

Sorry ajbolt that I forgot to mention you, and to be honest (no offense to Scarlet or GameCube04) you're the one that impress the most, because I currently don't even see how a 10% hard run is even possible :P . But I'm not interested in low% yet because of what I sad earlier.

Looking forward to seeing your any% run :)

That's why I can't get really fast times, though it did help me on my 15% run.

man, I can't seem to get a perfect map-side save->after suit run. I'm SO CLOSE! I'm at 27:49 currently, and get the suit at around 33, so I may get like 37 or 38 something.

My first real attempt at an any% speed run i got 39:02 or so. I wanted to try to improve upon it but then i got hooked on the 10% hard... and..well, I think you've seen the other topic. Yeah. I suck.

Just checked the last page or three.  Very very few 15% runs.

I just did one on normal.  1:10:55, Screw Attack, Two Energy, Three Supers.

Wasn't trying too hard.  Screwed up the hives (The ones you want the Long Beam for) real badly.  Had to go back down to the first missile tank to reload all my health.

If I did a hard run, it'd probably be the same, except I'd swap an energy tank for either a super missile or the long beam.

Considering a 10% run, just screw attack.  Savestates required though :)

YES. all hail me! I FINALLY beat 10% hard and i have my picture to prove it. I AM SOOOO happy. 10% hard is THE hardest thing I've ever done. I do not plan to do it ever again at this point. I'll post my picture when I get it up somewhere. For now, I may relax.
