Uh oh, I think someone has been playing too much ff7 and not enough metroid !
WHAT!!! What I have shown you is reality.
...
no seriously, what? I've never played FF7. I despise the Final Fantasy series with a passion. If anything, you should blame that on Ninja Gaiden and/or GunZ.
As for jeans, I hate them. Mom tried to get me used to wearing them when I was little, but I loathed them. I still do. I think I've worn jeans, like, four times. Ever. And those were on "You HAVE to wear something nice!!" occations. Like grandpa's funeral.
I wear jeans pretty constantly during the week, because they're about the only women's clothes with adequate pocket capacity for 15 keys and a cellphone. And even then I can't squeeze my Swiss army knife in, and random buttons on my phone keep getting hit when I sit or even when I walk sometimes. At home, though, I just about always change into pajamalike pants for comfort.
I didn't even start wearing jeans until I was forced to in high school band (for away games), and I don't think I wore them voluntarily until college. Though come to think of it that was probably the first time I had to constantly carry keys.
Even when I was in highschool we had a few dresscode restrictions. No baseball caps were allowed, because of gang associations. At one of the aforementioned away games, the vice principal took a hat away from one of the other bandmembers, which ticked him off.
Well, yeah, we do have some, like no hats. But, from talking to Saber and others, it seems that many schools have far stricter dress codes than mine does.
Well, some teachers dislike if we're wearing jackets inside. One crazy teacher managed to spend 20 minutes yelling at us that we'll end up in mental hospitals if we wear jackets inside. It was hilarious.
fascinating ... always thought that was a weird religious american thing.
It's because they *supposedly* can be associated with gangs, though that's utter nonsense (where I live, at least). It's mostly because you could be "hiding" something under that hat/hood, like a gun or something stupid like that.
Here, you're supposed to wear a predesigned uniform to go to school (thankfully, that doesn't apply to college/university). Most schools have their own, but the most generally accepted one is a pair of khaki pants for males and a khaki skirt for females, with a blue shirt on top (sometimes, females also wear yellow or pink shirts). In some exceptions, use of pants instead of skirts is also enforced on females.

I wear a trench coat to my school every day now that the weather has turned cold on us... I could hide a sawed-off in there if I wanted to... Some teachers tell me to take it off, I tell them its not in the dress code, they tell me I'm wrong and that it is against the dress code... I reach into my pocket where I keep a copy of our school dress code and prove to the teacher they're wrong... And then they write me up on a referal for being defiant. Oh well, at least I get to wear the coat!
Oh yeah,
Edit: We're not allowed to wear a white t-shirt at my school because that's gang related as well. Let alone hats...
I've worn loose fit black jeans and a collared <insert color> polo style shirt, white socks, and black shoes every day for the past 10 or so years, and I doubt my wardrobe style will change anytime soon. The only time I've ever deviated was during when I worked as a waiter, and wore... black loose fit dress pants and a collared blue polo-style shirt every day (for work). After work, I'd change back into my loose fit black jeans :D
Ah that reminds me, on "hat day" during my Junior year, I forgot to bring a hat so I glued two gigantic book covers together and folded a massive Samurai Hat. The thing was monstrous enough that my hardass Pre AP Algebra II teacher told me to take it off during her class. I did so and I had a smaller one on underneath. I would have gotten written up had she not been laughing as well.
Haha, doing stuff like that is awesome. I consider myself one of the best at pushing teachers right to the edge, yet never getting more than a verbal warning. And yeah, I sometimes wear stuff like longer wallet chains, which I'm told to remove, but I take out my agenda book (containing the dress code) that I carry around, showing teachers that nowhere in the dress code does it mention chains or anything similar. I get away with it every time, while other kids just sigh and pull off their chains, not even thinking to challenge.
Heh, all this talk of dress codes makes me remember my middle school days where the code was enforced so strictly that no one dared disobey it. They made it like public humiliation, since the shirt you had to wear for improper dress said something like "Proper Dress Code" or something like that. Then, I moved up to the high school and it's the "fairyland off in the woods" now (according to a previous teacher). At the high school they don't enforce it at all, unless you show up naked or something stupid like that. It's like all of the other empty promises about things you're "going to need to do next year all the time", like cursive handwriting or expository compositions.
