I don't know if you know this trick already, this is my second post, but it isn't used in the fastest speedrun so I guess you don't know it. During the game press START and than press both A and up on a second controller. You will see a password and when you press start, you'll be at the begin of the current area, with all the powerups you found. So if you have beaten Kraid, use this trick and you will be at the elevator. I hope you can use it.

It is known, since (as far as I remember) it's even documented in the game manual; however, tricks like these are not accepted in official SDA speedruns, nor are tricks like killing yourself to respawn somewhere else.

Actually, I hear death abuse is allowed now with the label "Abuses Death" so...

Up+A warping is in some of the Zelda 1 runs at SDA.  Radix doesn't like it, though.

Yes it's allowed. This "trick" is included in the Luigi's Mansion and Zelda II runs.
