I am currently trying to play both Fusion and zero mission at the same time with the same input for both games. I am recording my efforts and posting them on my youtubb channel for all to see. I try some commentary although I do not think I am the best at it, but anyways here is the link to the first part It is no where near as difficult as it may seem, though I do get lost a bit in Zero Mission at times do to my slight inexperience with the game. I am posting this in general Metroid cause I dont know where else to put it.

Club 27 Goals
That's a pretty neat idea actually, definitely interested to see more. I wonder how easily you could do that with the Mario games

ANKOKU
It's been done with the 4 first Megamans.

I'll be interested to see the final result.
This is a TAS I assume?

*just checked the link

NOOOPE. Well... good luck.

I watched the first video of this last night and it was surprisingly entertaining at times when you had one Samus flipping out while the other was doing something important or trying to climb a room. It looks like this could become difficult at times later on depending on the circumstances. I'd hate for two bosses or timed sequences to line up together, for instance.

If the first segment is any indication I think I'll go back and view the others later today.
I purposely try and avoid fighting two bosses at once, as far as timed sequences, there is only two in zero mission one after fighting mother brain and one after fighting mecha ridley (I assume its ridley at least) at the end so that should not be an issue.

Oh duh, for some reason I thought there were more of them in ZM. Plus as you said in the videos the games have vastly different paces since Fusion is longer than ZM so unless you're manipulating the games that much the only time I see things being an issue is if you got the first ZM escape sequence to come around the same time as the 6 min boiler scenario in Fusion.

Either way I'm waiting to see how you handle the ZM stealth sequence if you can't get Fusion Samus to cooperate when the time comes.
I am not at all looking forward to the stealth part. Fusion Samus will most likely end up looking like a moron, jumping around aimlessly shooting at ghosts.
Anywhere, everywhere
Haha. That's a pretty neat idea.

And it's probably a good thing that you don't know zero mission as well, since you could probably beat that one way before fusion playing both at the same time - and making the same amount of progress.

gonna start embedding the videos now that I know how

They taste best with salt
Wow, this is pretty impressive and also quite confusing at times. It's entertaining to see two different 'realities' moving together, as if they are connected through some parallel force. Using the computer segments in fusion to advantage in ZM is interesting.Applause
Hm I definitely wanna try this out sometime for fun. Do you just turn on two emulators with the same controls settings?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I'd be interested in seeing a TAS of this, as the ones for multiple Megaman games at once were pretty cool.
Yeah I saw a TAS recently of someone playing all four NES Mario games (1-3 and Lost Levels) with the same input and that was pretty crazy too. Seeing as I was really enjoying this series when he was still uploading them, I'd imagine I'd enjoy a proper speedrun of these together as well if that Mario one was any indication.
Im back finally! rl got in the way of uploading and updating at first, then my computer crashed and i lost the save files on the emulators so I will have to redo my progress, not a difficult task but i am lazy so it hasn't been done yet... I will finish it though. I am trying to decide whether to rerecord my progress with better planning or to work up to where I was when i stopped and continue from there.

yeah pretty much although I havent found a way to get sound from both emulators at once cause sound only comes from the active window. I am using vba if anyone wants to know

thehappymetroid you should be ashamed of yourself for coming up with this idea. I had to go through hell :P

The result?

I have not seen these ending photos in years... I don't remember them.

It was hilariously fun though. But I don't think I want to fight yakuza+mother brain or mecha ridley + sa-x simultaneously ever again <_<
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
lol yakuza was lined up with mother brain? that sounds even worse than the final bosses.

now go for any% same input :p
lol really wish I could have been the first to finish it, but its hillarious to watch someone else do it. I guess I could try a TAS since it still needs to be done. won't be perfect since finding a good route will be tricky
TAS would be incredibly tricky since there are so many times that both games have to go in opposite directions. The only way to really "desync" them are door transitions, and that option is still very limited. I don't think a TAS of this would be very interesting honestly =/
"I've never seen either of these pictures before!" best line in the run
Holy crap, that's awesome Kirby! I wish I hadn't missed that cast!

sadly I think your right, tried it yesterday and it wasn't much better than playing normally :( it might still be posible, but I am not good enough with tools to do it well.

I just spent some time watching a few pieces of the run, but those two were probably some of the better segments I saw just for how crazy they were. (Dual Gravity was interesting too) I'll have to go back and view the entire thing from start to finish eventually because ever since I first saw this topic back in October I've loved the concept. I'd imagine it takes a lot of skill and determination, along with some luck and clever manipulation of things we normally hate (navigation rooms, locked doors, etc.) to get through one of these runs without losing you sanity. Have to give points to both of you for even attempting this in the first place.
I never thought I'd say this... but thank god for navigation rooms in fusion
What'd you say?

Haha! I knew that there was a reason for them...
