That's a pretty average first playthrough. I had a 1:52 first playthrough, I belive, but it took me about 3 weeks to beat it, and I watched several any% videos. Judging from others' first times, I can say I did great :D

This is <i>the</i> best stratagy ever for Nightmare (do it on your next run): First charge a shot. When he is rising go so that when he becomes solid you are right near the orb. Now relase the shot do the flare hits it. In the flyng phase charge a shot. Now start space jumping as usual (still charaging). The difference is, w/ a charged shot, you go through Noghtmare's arms. YAY.

I think it's better for
A) On Nightmare, have it do donuts around you, just waltz with it a few times and then jump onto the ladder and shoot it and it should stop.then pummel it with missiles until you can smell it, and jump off and do donuts around it again.
B) On Nettori, whenever you release a charged beam, hold the missile button to fire and then repress the fire button to shoot a missile and let go of missile to charge as if nothing happened.you can get in 3 missiles pretty easily before you need to lay another peanut butter.
C) On SA-Xamaphone, again, dance with him and lure him to the other side of the room and don't let him get a shot off. When you're cornered, jump over him and lure him to the other side of the room (where the ledge is) and jump over him. Just keep charging and releasing as soon as he lands. You shouldn't need to get hit at all during the whole fight (although you're still likely to mess up at least once at some point in there).

I did 1:21 on my first run, but I had seen WD's run once, like a month before I beat it. Juhuu. It was like ~50% too. Am I cool now?

Yes. My starting 1:52 only had about 46% too.

I guess it's pretty natural, it's what comes in your way, the items that are not so hidden, still, everyone finds different items after all.
