Alright, I'll give it a shot.

Huh, I see what you mean now. Even if it is possible unassisted, it's not at all feasible for a run.

At least you have skipping the torizo to (more than) make up for it. Are you planning on using that in your next run?
professional chin scratcher
Yea it's probabaly just within human skill limit to pull off but worthless trying for ordinary mortals who are very, very good at the game like us.

I actually pulled off a torizo skip today funny enough. This is also bloody hard on console. I would very much like to use one in a future run yeah, but we will see. It might not be even need to reach my target times.

Forgot that The PAL has the Torizo skip, but if you compare the dificult of both, Torizo it's harder to pull off than the Pre-Draygon Shinespark (NTSC). But it saves more time too.
What about you 072, are you planning a speedrun or something?
professional chin scratcher
well a pre draygon shineaprk on NTSC is easier than a torizo skip on PAL for sure. But torizo skip would save a bit more time. There is an issue with torizo skip though. Finding somewhere to get your 5 missles back for waver room in brinstar without losing too much time. The bats can be very unreliable sometimes. I guess the best place to ge them back would be the spiky crawlers in the big ramp room

An NTSC run, yeah. I'll at least try to get that :31 I always wanted. I know that I'm capable of :30 but I'm not quite ready to take on that task again.

I completely forgot about the missile dilemma for skipping torizo. Well, it isn't really a dilemma since any time refilling them is going to be faster than torizo. Where do the TASes refill their missiles?
professional chin scratcher
I think on the crawlers on the slope and then they damage boost off the pirates in the next room.

I think if you get 31 you'll get the motivation to beat it with a 30.

Would you do it segmented or single segment ?
coral to complement blue
Segmented. I just don't have the consistency for SS.
professional chin scratcher
I see. I think a 30 segemented is just about possible, but with possibly no errors anywhere
Where can i find a TAS of the PAL version?

With everything new we've discovered, :30 has a bit of error room.

Reeve: There are none to my knowledge.

I see... I'm doing a any% savestate + realtime run for NTSC just to see, with the new tricks, the possibilities. I'm looking in every room to see if there's a faster way to pass too. In the end i'll try to explain the better way (in my opinion) to do the harder tricks.
professional chin scratcher
there isn't one. unless you want a amaturish one that I did last year, which would be due a retake as new tricks have been discovered since. I got 32 minutes completion time, and an NTSC one which was done in 29 minutes, hense me saying the 3 minute time difference all the time LOL
professional chin scratcher
I guess for a segmented 30 minute run on NTSC you could probabaly only save it about twice. Anymore would botch the run I would imagine ?

O yea the runs were done on snes9xw-improvement9 emulator

1.43, 1.51 or 1.52? lol
Oops, forget the 1.52 as it is a prototype.
professional chin scratcher
I would imagine its the 1,43
coral to complement blue
For segments, we decided on 3 back in the day:

-Before the Wrecked Ship, to manipulate Phantoon's patterns
-Before Botwoon/Draygon, lots of difficult or luck-based tricks and to manipulate Draygon's patterns
-Before Ridley, to get a good fight and to not have an insanely long segment at the end.
professional chin scratcher
two saves = 3 segments, interesting. I'd love to a see a run using these saves and achieve 30 minutes.

So much time i downloaded the 1.51 version that i imagined it was already on a improvement 10 or something. Anyway, i'll watch it later.
coral to complement blue
Oops, I meant 3 saves, 5 segments then including Ceres.
professional chin scratcher
O yea sorry that is 3 saves., I forgot ceres is always included as a segment
For the save before Ridley, i would vote for saving in the left of the elevator that leads to Lower norfair.
professional chin scratcher
Yea as you can run in there very fast and land on the save platform

The problem in my opinion is the last segment will be too long. I honestly would save one more time, maybe in that save you pass in Norfair after the long corridor with the speedblocks, or in Torian's first save, so you can try the Metroid skip and gain back the time you lost in the last save. And the run will be full of inovations.
