No no, I wasn't trying to be mean or discouraging. Actually, I really do like this patch. That's why I said "Man! You're are freakin genius!" or some stuff like that. I was just giving some advice on how it should improve. I could've put the happy face there so I don't sounded too mean. :P

I'm so gonna use this patch for my hack. Thank you InsomniaDMX for creating this awesome patch!

How can I make it that turning into morph ball doesn't change to screw attack palette one?
I'm not smart enough to look at the asm file and know what to change and what to change the values to..

I can't seem to get the boost ball patch to work... would it modify an existing save file? Or would it change the items that you pick up?

I did. I followed the instructions, I also took Acheron's advice, and it's not changing anything in the rom.
I don't see why releasing an IPS would be much better than this; it's already been stated that one of the reasons for releasing it in ASM format was due to editing it. It's not just supposed to be for people to slap on a ROM, but for incorporating into hacks.

Cool patch, however. I haven't tried it, so I'm not sure exactly how it'll work, since I'm sort of waiting for Volta or Aegis. I love this ASM stuff, though.

Not sure what to tell you. It works for the rest of us, so you're doing something wrong. Check your ROM, check that you're not softpatching, etc. The Spring Ball item will not show up differently in SMILE, by the way.
I had the same problem with another patch long time ago.
I edit the rom in smile but the emulator didn't show it. The reason: the emulator has a memory of a rom of the same name in the saves. You must look (if you have Snes9x v1.51) into the folder "Saves". There you find the savestates and the smv file for this rom. This file is the reason. you must delete it (including all savestates of the same name e.g. smhack.smv and smhack.000).The emulator overwrites this memory with another older one which has the same name.Sorry if you don't understand. It's hard to explain. puh...

I also made a prototype of a halfpipe.
Unfortunately, I don't think the SM engine currently has any code for turning horizontal momentum into vertical momentum. As is the ball would travel up slopes, then when it hits a vertical wall, it would stop because the game doesn't recognize it as having any upward momentum from the slopes. However, a halfpipe is a logical use for boostball, so maybe Insom's already working on that. At any rate, I'm thrilled to see any ASM being put up for public use (And examination).

Edit: Ok, I'm back. I got all the items except for the high jump boots and the spring ball, put the save in the same folder as the other rom I'm using to test this out on, renamed the rom to 'SM.smc', same with the save, except to .srm, ran the ms-dos batch file, opened the rom and got the springball and the highjump boots. It still hasn't changed anything.

I got it when I patched boostball.ips from aigamerDS to an unheadered rom...
If you're done right the springball changes to boostball.

I can only say it's "user error", sorry. What I would do if I were you:

-Download an entirely new copy of ZSnes/Snes9x and install to a different folder
-Download a new, clean SM ROM
-Patch it
-Play a new file from scratch

And if THAT doesn't work for you, it wasn't meant to be.
I created a short movie of me using the boostball so people who can't get the thing to work can check it out. (I wonder why, it was easy to patch using the explanation at the beginning )

Hello boost ball, good bye mockball....  Ha ha, I couldn't seem to get mockball to work, although I think I know how it's done.  Right now, still only a matter of time before I try both methods of boost balling though.  This seems like a good way around the mockball, no offense intended at all.  By the way, I like the videos.  grin new
Any way to mix the code from the blue suit and this to make a complete boost ball? though it would be more like a death ball xd

When i saw the item i was like... lolwut o.o, then started boosting around like mad, and to ad an extra fun factor, activated the bluesuit code, fun times indeed.
