short charge through the acid? wow.

hmmmm... maybe I should mention that I was able to complete the game with 8 E tanks and no frame advance, slow down, or anything else but savestates.

If it looks like frame advance is needed, there's probably an easier solution

Just realized this could be my fault. When I said
time for an acid bath
, I was talking about the chozo statue room, not the room before it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Oh, and as you're coming up to it, Absolutely make sure you have a savestate before the big acid rise room.

Side note: Can someone PM me detailed instruction on how to make a smv (also how to work in rerecords)

What, you were able to
load the shine in the acid? I loaded the shine near the elevator and then shinesparked through the door. Of course I had to open the door first. But no frame-perfect maneuvers needed.

EDIT: I suppose you were... short charge to the rescue

I short charged from the elevator, and from there I cwjed from every single ledge there was.

Attaching SMV.

What I find funny, is that no one reacted to my screw attack before gravity suit. That too took some frame advance, but hell it was worth it :-D

EDIT: Got 95% items, 5 more to go; 4 missile packs and a PB pack. Now I need to comb all the rooms I have visited for remains =(

Always have to do things the hard and entertaining way? =)

I already got the screw attack before gravity, I had to spend some time with it too, but there are a couple of ways to do it. Still I say great job, I guess there won´t be many who will get it before gravity.

As for the remaining items, they should not be too difficult because every room has the same amount of items as in the original. They are pretty well hidden (and I don´t even know which items you are missing) so there is very low possibility to find them by accident. Combing is kinda cool too, luckily the x-ray works.

What what what!?!?!? Screw attack before Gravity? Got a smv of that? I would love to see it. How did I miss that you had that...
Again: Strictly amazing

Also, mucho kudos to finding the X-ray scope, if you can find that, the other 5% shouldn't be too hard.

edit: Hey everyone... you should fight version 1.2's Botwoon. I ended up not changing Draygon, but Botwoon makes up for it.

Yeah, well I bet you guys can't beat this.

Exactly like that, nice job! I think there is not enough room for super short charge after all, so that might be the only way to get it. That is a shame that there just is not enough time to do that without slowdown. Just wait what else Kriole will have for this hack in a while  :)

EDIT: Fano, if that is true, I am very amazed how fast this hack can be played, congrats.
Every Bit Counts
Yeah. Everybody likes my mad skillz. laugh new :P It isn't real though.
Figured so... why did you even bother to post something like that?

Trying to stay on topic... what might be the potential ending time for a standard TAS or just speedrun in this game. I think it can be finished under an hour, but I have no good guess because I have only played it through once and I spent much time searching items and solving puzzles  =)
How the crap is it possible to shinespark up the etecoon shaft

Short charge. I posted it to see how many people I could fool. Also, for people who want real stuff, he it is.
So it's not really possible to get up the shaft? I want those pbs :( I've done slowdown and everything, but I just can't do that stupid short charge!
Every Bit Counts
It is. Just use frame advance and copy these 2 vids.

Of course its possible! It did take me over 200 tries, but I finally managed without assistance (barely). However, if it comes down to it, and a version 1.3 is needed, I'll extend the ledge by a block or two.
Did anyone try to freeze an enemy next to the ledge? Idk if that'll work or not, but it would help if it did.

Nice vids Fano, I was slightly disappointed when none of them were gravy, but still cool.

Hmmm.. I'd wager for an any% run, sub 1 hour is possible. Especially if you leave Maridia til last. The space jump really helps more than imaginable. For a TAS, I'd say sub 50 mins would be possible. As far as a SS 100%.... Good luck with that for speed. A plain 100% run is definitely sub 2 hours, probably somewhere along the lines of 1:20-1:30. Knowing exactly where everything was, I finished the game with 79% in 1 hour and 54 minutes. (that was my first run) I'll do another and share my results.

I'm definately gonna TAS this game, just need time to find my last missing 5% items, and finish my SM:I Testrun. Surprisingly, I became really good at stutter-walk shortcharging by playing this game O.o. I managed to do the etecoon shaft on the first try in real-time.

Are there any items in the WS-Maridia acid-run? If so, then I might wanna go there, but IIRC there are none at all.

EDIT: What are the maximum amount of items? I got 230 missiles, 50 Smissiles, 50 PBs and all upgrades. It's 250, 50, 55 right?

Well, Kriole, congrats on 100%!
Max items are 230, 50, 50, 14 Etanks, 4 Reserves. Idk where you got 250 50 55 from, but again, congrats.

There are no items in the WS-Maridia Run. In V 1.2 however it is an alternate route instead of the noob tube.

When I was testing this hack to make sure everything was possible in realtime, I got good at a lot of things (Mid-air spark, Kagoball, Stutter-walk/short charge, CWJ (somewhat), and even Diagonal BJ while waiting for cutscenes.) because I knew that a lot of players out there are much much better than me, and I wanted Gravy to be challenging.

Also, I look forward to your TAS like a kid to Christmas December-type holiday
Every Bit Counts
I think I'll TAS this game to. I just need to get a route down. BTW, does early screw attack save any time?

I don´t think it will save as much time in WS as it takes to get. Although you could enter Maridia from the backside after Gravity suit, but then again, is it really much of use in a TAS so it would be worth taking for WS and Maridia? I can only think of the WS upper room where it might come in handy, but that´s about it...

So, which of you guys is going to make the any% and which will make the 100% ?  :)

Cardweaver:
Maybe you should update your first post now that Kriole got 100% too (lol, still going at it even after finishing the task).
In fact, I believe that there will be quite a lot of players for this kind of good hack, so why not make some kind of honor list or something as well?

Well I'm not sure. An any% wouldn't require that much route planning, but who knows. First things first though, got to finish my 7%.

As of right now, Lance is the only one to accomplish 100%

Now that I have accomplished 100%, that statement makes me sad panda =(.

Still, I need to check for early speed booster; if that is possible, then early Screw Attack is VERY handy for fake-kraid. Or, well, speed booster is about as effective. This requires some test-running. I will start a 24% speedrun, and check for possible time-savers. But, as Fano7 said, first things first; need to finish my SM:I runs.

Exactly, this hack is far better than other hacks like Golden Dawn (some may not agree with this statement), which I just thought was tedious and the route was not very obvious. Making the first post more serious gives it an overall better look. So, an honor list and maybe a detailed description of the game and why you made it. If you need pointers then just look at what Saturn posted in his SM:I release thread.

EDIT: Just finished, 06:00 finish time (thanks to several hours of searching for items that did not exist), 100% items. That number is so satisfying ;]
Has this been mentioned?  In the Green Brinstar/Mock ball/gate room...  You should be careful getting the Super Missles.  Don't roll into that small space.  You get stuck and have to reset.

I'm pretty sure I downloaded and patched a new (2nd) one.  Although I don't know what version it is.  Maybe you could just make it a zip file and include a notepad with it...?
Every Bit Counts
It's been mentioned. Also, I think it was fixed in v1.2
Rolling Eyes  Yeah, it was back on page 5.

There should be ..It would be nice if there was a- movie that shows how to do the short charge.  Have animated buttons that light up or something that shows when the run button should be pushed and how it coincides with what's happening in the game in real time and in slo-motion.

I think he ment an AVI-file, with pasted images of buttons which highlight when the player in the game presses the given button.
