Alright I'll try but if you get it send it to me, I've got the perfect route planned out and everything :)
For the VMR? I really don't think it's possible. No dashing and no L jumps and you'll take extra damage in Fiery Shores from the lava crossing. Also Monitor Station will kill you because of the security cameras, you can't just dash across. I hope you get to try it out but it really is impossible.
Who said anything about Fiery Shores?
Never even thought about the other route. Yeah probably better to go the other way even though the lava crossing in Lava Lake will completely own you.
I can comfortably dash across Lava Lake. I've never done this route before but I finish VMR's with 29 health left and without picking up anything, so I should be pretty good, the ultra energies are really helpful.
There is no dashing in the wii version though...

Jagger ftw
Metroid prime two's pool is now timed, not by the amount of phazon used. So STEP IN AND SHOOT THEM ALL UP BEFORE ITS GONE!

It works, try it with super missile.
Super missile = useless in 23%

T3: [noembed][url= can still dash jump to a degree.[/url][/noembed]
Jagger ftw
Hmm can any one time from begin to after missile? (save at that save station RIGHT AFTER mecha)? I got 11 minutes.
Explain "begin", from Samus' ship I can get about 5 minutes to be saved in nursery after Mecha.
Jagger ftw
Starting at space station.

I find turning (moving in a circle) during mecha pretty easy, I can usually spot them pretty quickly.
I know what turning is, thanks ;P.

From the space station I've saved at Gathering Hall with 9 minutes.

Here's a video of the VMR:
[noembed][url=[/noembed]

I'm 25 seconds over exactly, so I know with elimination of horrible mistakes and with the neccesary luck to get 3+ ultra energies I can surely make it, VMR's are my element.

When I removed the mistakes via clever editing I'm only about 2-3 seconds over the "limit", the limit presuming you take no environmental/enemy damage other than that constantly dealt by magmoor. I really wish I had a SJF save right now.

Made it without many mistakes under the requisite 1:25, could still have been improved by a long shot.
Jagger ftw
I didn't want you to think I was just standing there with wii remote on the side, which is different from moving at the same time ^^.

T3 I have a proposition for you, let's race and see who can be the first person to get SJE (Space Jump Early) on tape. The person who does get it first has to press start and show off all of their equipment. Whoever gets it first = winrar.

I noticed Millzy was browsing this topic, feel free to enter in this contest too. Same with mrpotter if you see this.

Oh, so it is slower to go through furnace access. Okay just didn't make any sense before.

Nice job with your IBBF in the GC and wii versions.

Yeah, I doubt anyone else has done early space jump. I actually am stuck right before early space jump in my file. I have been able to do it within a half an hour each time I try to get it but last time I tried, I tried for like an hour and a half and couldn't succeed.

Lol, VMR in wii version. That's really, really funny. There is no way that a VMR in the wii version will ever be possible.

Of course VMR would be possible, you can grab the 5th e-tank from Training Chamber with some funky ass wallcrawlling from Main Plaza!  Wink

BTW Mills, in case you forgot you european players had another route which involved being lucky and getting 3 ultra energies from the puffers - that's the route I'm going to take. I timed myself and if I take absolutely no extra damage I wouldn't even need the puffers.

T3: You didn't mention you had to place the last bomb fairly low, and not at the peak of your jump like you said.

Also, depression:

And why did you edit my post ark?

I know about the new dash jump. I've tried it out it several jumps that cannot be made with a normal jump. That's how I originally solved MQB without grapple and spider.

I've already done Space jump early before you. I was the first person to do it in the wii version. I'd like to compete to see who could get it on film first but I don't have any way of recording it. So i guess you're gonna be the winrar.

Uh, you realize that Lava Lake is super heated and does double the damage and to just make it through that room would be incredible.

Whenever I lay the last bomb at peak I go higher.

Also when trying space jump early off the rock, aim your bomb jump more to the left of the ledge.

You don't even have a digi cam?

Also, when I lay the bomb high I go freaking nowhere. When I put it low it launches me pretty high. I've figured out the lowest point (standable point, anyways) is the weird dip next to the random slope that's more shallow.

If you manage to get SJE again be sure to send me the file at samusrox at hotmail dot com.

BTW, Lava Lake is not super heated.
Jagger ftw
hmm, will trilogy considered as a seperate category? same with jap-wii version?

Well, yeah, I do but the quality would be pretty crappy. Also, I can never pull off any tricks when recording. Last time I tried recording early space jump, it went on for hours before I decided to just give up.

Yep, that's the lowest point. You'll never make it going up on the right side.

It was in the GC version. You lost like 20/s or something ridiculous like that. The other rooms drain like 10/s. I'm guessing you're playing on the lowest difficulty so the damage will be like 10/s in Lava Lake and in the other rooms probably like 5/s.

Definately, they're completely different from the GC versions and they're worth making a separate category for. There is still a ton of sequence breaking so it isn't just a natural route speedrun and the low% has already been dropped to 23%.

I remember hearing about that but I don't remember Lava Lake being the room; It evidently wasn't.

No, it was. Try it out. Whenever you go in that room you see your health drop at double the speed.

Might want to watch this. It's a Pal VMR for the GC. As you can see, your energy drops a lot quicker in Lava Lake.

BTW, good job StefanvanDijke.
Hrm, I guess that's a PAL specific change (probably to prevent that) cos it's not in my NTSC version or the Wii version for all I can remember. Either way, cool.
No, it was in the NTSC GC version and it is still in the Wii version. I even went down to Lava Lake to test it out and my energy just shot down.
