also Shane Saterfield of Gametrailers.com thinks we'll see more before E3, and he thinks it will come out BEFORE the holiday, like maybe summer or something! (it would make sense, so as to not interfere with Mario sales or compete)
Thread title:
that looks a little fake to me...
is all there is that one pic and the music?
Indie Lover
well it's on the official nintendo of japan site... so it's not fake...

and i loved the music... remember me of early final fantasys...
Reminded me of high-brow cyberpunk anime, what with the sci-fi cityscape, person looking at that city, piano music, serif font.

I think two things are now certain:
1. Japan will see Other M this year (maybe we will, if we're lucky)
2. This will have a heavy story element

Music makes me think of something you'd find in Zelda, and while it's good it doesn't seem like Metroid based on what the series has been before now. Not saying that I'm against it though, since it fit beautifully with the image they have of Samus and the skyscrapers outside the window. It's just... different for Metroid.

I'd like to think that we'd be able to get this game this year as well, but you never know with how Nintendo usually does international release dates for their first party games.
Damn, I was hoping it'd be like 2002, where we got the Metroid game, and Japan got the Zelda game, while everyone got the Mario game.  I honestly don't give two shits about Zelda games.
Didn't ask: Anyone know what is being said at first before the image appears?

"A dream. It's as if I was watching a playback of a tragedy that really happened."

Anyways, that site is giving me serious "Metroid is ruined FOREVER!" vibes.
Woah, you speak Japanese?
Armor Guardian
Not really. I just copied that from somewhere else.

On another note, Retro Studios is hiring.
Yeah, since the Prime trilogy is over, what're they going to do now?  I heard they were working on ome non-Metroid games, but I highly doubt they'll sell that well.
They've had plenty of time to become well-known, and if whatever they do turns out to be good, it should sell well.
I'm actually relieved and happy for this game, I never liked the prime games, as what I liked about metroid games was the 3rd person aspect, all the cool moves, etc.

Not only that, but even with team ninja, as least  the nintendo japan metroid team has a big hand in the game, where they had no involvement with the prime games.

I can only hope it'll be good.

And the award for Overstatement of the Century goes to...

Seriously, many of Nintendo's top dogs, including Miyamoto, kept a very close eye on what Retro were doing. Miyamoto was the one who suggested first person.
Just look at the first Prime's credits and you'll see how much/little involvement Nintendo had.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
My main hope for this is that all of the WHAM-BAM combat (see the trailers) is limited to specific areas, such as boss fights, or larger enemies, while having the rest of the game focussing on exploration.
red chamber dream
sounds like a reasonable assumption. the combat is just eye-catching, so it went into the trailer. most of the trailers for the prime series mostly showed combat.
