yeah
Today I completed a NBMB run of MZM with 52% of the items, which I'm pretty sure is a new record. I have to note that I used the moonjump code a couple times to get the items in Norfair's lava pit. I did go to Chozodia backwards (through the yellow doors) and got as many tanks as possible. I cleaned every area (except for Ridley and Tourian, which can't be accessed in this type of run) and I'm pretty sure I cleaned up Kraid. but I could be wrong. I might use more codes to get more items but so far I'm happy with 52%. I can't make a video, but I might be able to give you pictures after Christmas (when I get a digital camera). So I hope you like my record. I did complete it in less than 1:30. And no, detonating a Power Bomb after getting it early doesn't freeze the game. And you might notice, I got my extremly clever signature back! Woohoo!

52% NB/MB?  I am not familiar with this moonjump code.  Does it allow you to get those power bombs in the lower Norfair lava pit before Chozodia?

Moon jump code is
Code:
74000130 03FE
830013EC 7FFF

You'd also need alot of health to lava dip the Power Bomb tank
yeah
Oh, wait, I forgot to clean up the Space Pirate Mother Ship! With that done, I have come to a total of 57%! New record!
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
That's a stupidly annoying signature.  It's not going to be counted if you used a Gameshark, although it's cool that you got a lot of items.
scarlet, you're so kind.

:o
That's why I asked about the moon jump.  When I heard it, it didn't sound quite legit.  I still want to see how high you can get, ING-X.

If you were to do a legit run you would end up with 2% (Morph Ball & 1st Missile Expantion), because you would have to face the "Charge Beamst"

Nope. 3%! You forgot the long beam!

D'oh #-o
But what if you never kill charge beamst?
Heh heh, exactly.  Why would anyone do NB/MB if it would end at 3%?

Right! But, what´s the REAL nbmb % without cheating? Probably 30 % because of Imago Cocoon! Or doesn´t Imago cocoon count as miniboss?
I think it's about 46-47%.
Never! I´ll test tomorrow, what the real % is! And the highest i can imagine is 40 % !
I remember getting 45% once, I'm pretty sure.
HA! Didn´t i say it in my previous post? I just have gotten exactly 40 % and i can´t imagine any other items! I had :

130 Missiles / 26 %
3 e-tanks / 3%
11 main items / 11 %

Total: 40 %!

isnt the definition of a NBMB not that you don't kill any bosses/minibosses, but that you don't actually Fight bosses/minibosses.  Stating that, shouldnt a NBMB end at charge beamst?
Are there any other cases in which that distinction needs to be made (that is, where it's possible to leave the fight without defeating the enemy)?  Besides which, an exception is made in SM because the run would be over very quickly without bombs, and obviously the same would be the case here.  It wouldn't even be much of an exception since the miniboss remains to menace you as much as it likes and you have multiple opportunities to decline to defeat it.

One question I've asked which has never been answered that I recall is whether there's any specific point at which a NBMB must finish.  I was thinking of the missiles and super missiles in the Golden Torizo room in SM; the former, at least, can be gotten without triggering the fight but it's impossible to leave the room so the run would have to end there.
In Super, it would be possible (theoretically) to go much farther than the Torizo (because of the Torizo skip).

As for an ending point, I recall it being in Kraid when you go down to get the unknown item and missile tank.  Although I forget why you can't escape from there.

As for not fighting the Charge Beamst, I think we can just ignore it because NB/MB would be boring otherwise.

Do you have to actually hit the Charge Beamst with anything before it leaves?  I've forgotten.

@MR.X: It is possible to get over 40%; I know for a fact.  I'll find out exactly how high sometime later.  I think there is a FAQ on gamefaqs about this, if you want to try to find the items you missed.
The Charge Beamst leaves in a while, you don't neccesarily have to hit him.
And thus, you don't have to fight him (thanks Thomaz).

You have to hit it at least twice or it won´t leave.
