Here's some interesting bits of info on the next generation consoles (Specifically the new X-Box and the Revolution)

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/03/25/news_6121112.html?tag=lastword_all_image

I think it would be kind of strange to have no buttons on a controller: If they made another control with the standard buttons on it for the people who didn't want the new control I think they could do well with sales. This new control type makes me wonder what  new gameplay options the games could have...

Anyway, this topic can be used for anything new we find on the next generation consoles. (Amazing how close they are to coming out though, huh?)
Thread title:
First off the PS3:

Considering i will soon be buying a PS2, the deal with the PS3 doesnt sound so bad, except that im hoping its going to be a small cross between the PS2(slimline)and the PSX(PSone reminds me of the Dreamcast *full body shiver*). The one thing im hoping it will have is compatiblity with the PS2.

The Nintendo Codename Revolution:

I really dont want a touch screen for controller, unless the screen is made of more durable stuff than the DS(lets hope so), and lets hope that it has wireless controllers. I really hope that it looks somewhat similar to the Gamecube controller.

The Xbox two:

Since i dont much like Microsoft(apart from the computers), I dont give much about the Xbox two, except for one thing: size. If the
X2(Xbox 2) is about the size of a ps2(non slimline), i might consider...
If the Revolution uses a Touch-Screen for the controller face, it DAMN well better have one of those newly-developed tacitile feedback devices included.
Heh, liked the text at the bottom of the page...

Like Rumor Control but can't read? Come back Monday afternoon to watch the video edition.

I don't ahve a lot of hope with nintendo for this console. its "revolutinary" ideas are dong things like scaring away third party developers from wanting to make titles for it (one big thing that got them in hot water with the n64 and the cube) and big surprise, they will be launching it with yet another mario title. I think that nintendo will be going the way of sega because of continued arrogance and it's "revolutinary" way of gaming. does this revolution include not making any more consoles nintendo?  does it include alienating your fans because people "want" mario games out of thier ears (the plumber had his day, but now he is just so overused in any game nintendo can think of just to try and make money). ? 'cause that is what I think is gonna happen to you. and I do not want to be a part of this revolution, I just want a good game. with an original character. I like some of the old school, but thier time is done.
That PS3 pic looked like a camera or something.

I'm still not sure what to think about these "touchscreen controllers", I can see them working and making the revolution a big hit, but at the same time I can see them fail miserably. My choice in new-gen-console will probably depend on how this works out.
I hate touch screens so, so much.

I think that being too innovative can be a bad thing. Look at the Virtual Boy, for example (well, that might have just plain sucked...).
Yeah, it's painful to play a DS. In fact, I have to get my hand into oragami positions to play it!!!!!!!!
I can't play using the touch screen for over half an hour. It hurts too much after that.

Metroid Prime: Hunters will be torture.

Must....make it....to....save....room....but....hand.....hurts....so bad....unnnhh...
You know, Nintendo has never said anything about the controllers except that they would be sans D-Pads and A & B buttons... everything else is just rumor and speculation.

I hope.
Too many fangirls to count
These are all just rumors. Like before the release of MP2E. MOST of it is shit.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.

Yeah, the virtual boy was less "innovative" and more "here's some horrible lasers to cut your retinas open!".
Hooray for pain!

If they rise the price too much for next generation consoles, I doubt I'll get one until used ones start popping up for reasonable prices.

I really want to see what kind of controls the Revolution will have.
Who says there will be anything remarkable about the controllers at all?

Nintendo.

and look at how "innovative" they said the virtual boy was, how the cartrige system for the n64 was the way to go, and make games that you have to buy a relativley expensive memory pack for that should have come for free with the system. to be honest, with all of nintendo's huffing about concerning the revolution, it reminds me of a corpse with gas escaping from it's mouth. thye both make noise, but they no longer are alive and contributing to anything.

feel free to think and/or say what you would like about my opinion, as this promotes(usually) a good and debate like topic XD

Well, they could just give you a joystick and X and Y buttons or something. :)

Anyway, I'm not too worried about the controller, cause I know I'm going to love it...I've loved every Nintendo controller so far.

What I'm more interested in is what the REAL name of the Revolution will be. One thing I like about the Big N: They always give their consoles an at least sort-of different name, rather than just sticking a "2" or "3" at the end.
I remembered back when the PS2 came out, everyone was talking about a PS3 and how it was already out in Japan and how it was going be a $10,000 personal super computer. What idiots. ^_^
I don't have anything too look forward too, I can't see graphics improving that much and there isn't much else they can give us thats never-before seen and cool.
you should think again if you meant ps2 graphics could not be improved. that thing is a dinosaur. go dreamcast-like.
I agree with everything Arkarian said.  And about the controller, after deep thought and stuff, I realized that Nintendo is probably smart enough to make a controller that can compete with its... err... competition and be interesting at the same time.  The DS does not just have a touch screen, remember.  It also has four face buttons, a D-pad, and two shoulder buttons, which is probably adequate for most games, and only two buttons less than the N64, which had some superfluous buttons anyway (in my opinion).  If they want to make games with the touchscreen for controls, they can, but they left the possibility for making games with traditional controls as well and stuff.

Graphical improvement is decaying, certainly.  Which is probably part of the reason Nintendo decided that improved graphics would not be the main feature of the Revolution.

Not much else they can give that is new and interesting?  I refuse to believe that.
One shall stand, one shall ball.

Except the Dreamcast was better than the PS2 will ever be.
I hate the Dreamcast with a vengeance, but I don't know why. Maybe it's because the damn system erased all of my saved data every week.
Oh, I forgot to mention something I remember reading the other day: As far as I know, the Revolution will be backward compatible with the Cube (Nintendo is finally doing it right...)

I'm waiting to see what E3 has in store for the next gen consoles before I really make an opinion on them: However, I have a feeling that it won't make a difference when it comes time to actually buy them, since I know for a fact that I will probably get the Revolution anyway...

Of course, now that I think about it... I wonder how much more we could precisely control Samus in Prime and Echoes (And if it would help us uncover some new tricks/improve some of the current ones) with the Revolution controller. It may not make any sort of difference at all, but you never know.

I still have faith in Nintendo that they can pull off something good. They haven't really failed me so far, so why would they now?
Just one thing bugs me about microsoft: image 256bit system, no wait, 518 bit system, taht im guessing would be the Xbox, Revolution 256, probably, and so forth. Controllers: If Xbox makes it to Chunky, then no. If revolution is a cross between ps2 and GC, then yes ill probably buy it. If not, heh who can predict the future...

YOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!.........
