Obviously, but it doesn't fix the inconveniance, and rechargable AA aren't as good as built in rechargable batteries (my rechargables for my GBA wore out after a couple years). They're better than regular batteries, but it would still be worth have a recharable battery built in.
Internal rechargebles are exactly the same as aa rechargeables... They have close to the same recharge time as aa's and same amount of recharges as aa's too.

I can understand Nintendo not wanting to make the Wiimote too expensive by adding in a rechargable battery, especially since there will likely be a version with one later.

The only thing that has really concerned me about the Wiimote is the lack of a volume control for the speaker.
There is just press the home button and click on your wiimote and you can change the volume.
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
Yes, but it would be nice to actually have the volume button next to the speaker it controls.
sounds like something more to break to me.

I'ld still rather have it built in so I can just plug in a cord and keep playing while it recharges (ala PS3, and DS).

Its not a major issue, but it is a minor inconveniance.
I'd rather have changable batteries, like they have now. If I had to plug the controller into something to charge it, I wouldn't be able to play meanwhile. I always sit too far away from everything. That means I'd have to take a looooong break while waiting for it to charge. If I'm unlucky, that would lead me to buying two controllers so I could change... if that even works.

No, I got a charger and batteries last summer simply as preparation for getting a Wii, and I've already used them in other controllers, wireless phones and alarm clocks. I'm even thinking about buying another set of rechargable batteries. They're so damn useful.

If it's any consolation, you can remove the dead batteries, insert new ones, and then resume fighting Twilit Dragon Armagos (or whatever it was) as though nothing had happened.
I am loving Nintendo right now. grin new

We finally made contact with someone from them today, and after a few minutes of my father being on the phone, I found out that in about 3-4 business days (Roughly this time next week most likely) there should be a brand new replacement Wii arriving at my door. Based on what they said, it's just the console coming to us, but that's fine because that was the only thing that was having problems.

So... by the time it arrives, I'll should be pretty much on par with the Japanese launch of the system and the Gamecube release of Twlight Princess.  laugh new (So yeah, please remember the whole spoiler thing with this game, even though what was just mentioned is a very minor thing overall I'd expect.)

But hey... I should finally get the chance to play the Wii for more than an hour by this time next week. grin new (If you can't tell, I'm a very happy gamer at this time.)

It's Twilit Dragon Argorok, the 7th dungeon boss.

I've had to change my batteries once, at about fifteen hours through Zelda (I've played quite a few hours of Wii Sports as well, though). I'll be getting rechargeables for Christmas: twenty-three bucks for a Sony charger with four batteries (sorry guys, Sony's just looked like the best one).

i'll try to buy rechargeables this weekend.

the 5th couple of batteries is about to be completely drained since i got the Wii. not good. my economy will die eventually at that rate.

GC TP is coming in a little more than 1 week. time to mirrorize everything (and see it the way it was intended since Wii TP is the mirrored one)
44:57 total play time. Two year old Maha 2200mAh Powerex batteries. One recharge at ~30hrs I think. Using a Maha conditioning charger. The remote is good about shutting itself off when I get absent minded.

This reminds me. Cordless mouse, wavebird, Wii remote and only six batteries. I need more batteries.

I'm just burning in the grandkids Wii, btw. <_< (A winter solstice present). Z:TP is the burn-in software of choice (also checking it for bugs). This is the first time I've played.. er, tested a Zelda game. <3n it. Using Wii Sports a bit too. Wii fitness age of 47. ;p

One problem. I play thru my cap card, and keep trying to minimize the Vdub window with the remote. Go wiimote hackers.

Edit: Seems the remote (or Wii) is, er.. was  messing with my wireless mouse. The remote is toast. It started with the motion sensor in Wii Sports, and now I have no Home or +/- buttons in Z: TP. :[

Edit: Called Nitendo customer support. New remote on the way. Support person was great, actually enjoyed his job.

now let's see if third parties will make an effort.

it's getting ridiculous. i think the only way for 3rd parties to make good wii games is that nintendo completely destroys the competition like 70% marketshare for them and rest for everyone else.

interesting fact: Wii is the fastest selling console ever atm. it is beating the PS2 at the same point in time from their respective  launches.

That M2k2 guy
Pretty neat that they're only slightly above X-Box.

So hey, I hear Nintendo's Dolphin is going to use a disc syste...oh, sorry, I keep thinking it's the nineties.
