Green-Kirby, ROAR!
And... I quit.

..kinda lame to come up with that a few days after the topic being made.

I quit Super Metroid hackign in general. Never got as far as I wished, due to my lazy ness.

Any one is free to use the GFX I designed so far with out giving credit. (Just don't claim you made it -,- )

That shit was amazing man. I should take more notes from you on my gfx editing lol.  :)
. . .
Its looking good!  Keep it up!  Don't go quitting/starting over again!

Sidenote:  I know you just filtered the beginning part, but some of those tiles look really good in black and white... hmmm... that gives me an idea!  *scampers off*
We have strikingly similar black suit design, I think we're even sharing visor color.  I hope our speed boosters, shines, etc. don't look the same.
i was trying to think of where that music came from and i decided it had to be a remix of a song from bomberman 64, is that right?

The boswer stages in Super Mario 64.

This looks very promising! Can't wait for for winter in Texas if it means this hack :D.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

«14:10:31» <Crys> the black and white part is from the old crapy one
«14:10:38» <Crys> I though you could tell...
«14:10:46» <Crys> Maybe I should say that in the topic..

But yeah, the hack looks awesome, but the trailer itself was mediocre. The video needs to be synced with the music.

The red doors look especially awesome.
Metroid Exp: Exploration - Great, Skills - Decent
I congratulate you on coming a long way since the days of the old Ice, which me and CymicX played and showed you all the errors that needed fixing. I can't wait to play the new and improved Ice Metal :-D
Amazing, incredible, I am awed. I'm in love with these graphics; they are the absolute best I have ever seen.

Another thing I like: this hack doesn't look like a dog turd inside a walrus turd inside a whale turd, which can't be said for exteremely many hacks these days.

I can go the "constructive criticism" route or the "attaboy" route. I'll assume you want the compliments without the critique for now--let me know if you'd prefer my own two cents about what you could improve on. I'm not sure to what standard or what extent you want to invest in the hack.

I like the cavey areas. Outdoor isn't bad either. Is it going to be very difficult? The video didn't seem to have very tough enemies. For the grapple part... what happens if you fall? I'm hoping you're using something we've seen before. ;)

Pretty good though. It's definitely a far cry from Ice/Ice2. You're getting better all the time.

Oh, alright.  laugh new

Well, one thing I noticed were that there were a whole lot of tunnels and enclosed rooms compared to low numbers of open spaced rooms. Tunnel after tunnel after tunnel would get a bit repetitive. I'll try to find more stuff to critique.

W8, didn't you just copy that blog entry from the first one? Also, I'm having to bop back and forth between this and your video to make comments about it Laughing. Anyways, I gather that you want us to tell you specifically what was good and bad in this, not just make general comments about 'Ice Metal is AWESOME!' or something like that. Hm... I did notice that, like Acheron (congrats on becoming a mod there, or did I just not notice it a while back?) said, the enemies do look easy. It also would be nice if you went back to the beginning and added some color, although keep some of it greyscale - you could make the underground feel there be an ice cavern, which you could easily pull off, but only if you had at least a little color in there, like the samus suit or something. Similar to what happens when you use that reset glitch in SM, and in the intro, you have a purple suit while everything around you is in greyscale. That would be a good way to pull it off, except you'd want to leave the morphing ball, and some other items and stuff in color to provide some contrast as well. Well, I'm gonna be back on later, but I got to go, so this post won't be any longer for now. I'll start extolling the virtues of your level design next.

Edit: In case you can't tell the black and white part is from the old crap as to show how much progress I have made.

The only thing I can comment on is the color combination of orange and green.  :-&

If you're not opposed, here's some more food for thought:

-The brown/blue sky is very, uh, different. Granted it hasn't been done yet, but... I don't know. Maybe a sunset would work better or something.
-Some of the tilesets are very un-interesting, specifically the brown-green boxy areas. This is a obvious and difficult problem I've wrestled with plenty in Aegis; you can see some things I did to switch it up in the screenshots thread. In general, every room needs SOME variation to give it life and flavor.
-I don't like the trees-type background. It's sort of cartoony and not very convincing. I feel it takes away from the more realistic look of your other tiles.

I'll have to watch the video again when I have a better internet connection... but those are the ones I have off the top of my head. I know it's a lot of work to improve on, so that depends on how much time you want to invest in it. Personally I think it'd be worth it. Maybe try putting some natural rock-type formations in with the green-brown boxes, that is the only thing I really think needs improvement. The others are more "it'd be nice".

I'd play it for sure.
Terrain looks a bit blockish.

If you wish, download my Metroid Shadows hack and rip out whatever you want from that. It's linked to on the Hacks List, I believe.
GK is a very fickle haxor. He hypes his hacks, quits and restarts often. It scares me.

Still, I'm looking forward to this hack. It really does look incredible - I only hope that it's released soon!

I like the word "haxor."

Sadly, "ex-haxor" isn't as appealing.  This had great potential.
