Almost happy
After more than half a year of hard work I have finaly put the last few hours into this enormous project that is the 100% run. It improves upon JXQ's last version by over 9000 frames, or more specifically 2 minutes and 34 seconds. And ingame it is 1 minute and 51 seconds faster, the final time on the gameclock is 00:36:03. Here is a excel spreadsheet (formated by hero or the day) that goes into detail on pretty much all the improvements, and explains a lot of weird stuff I do sometimes.A little more into detail introduction if the run can be found here in my submission text.

EDIT:

The emulator I used can be found here, my specific version is located in Snes9x 1.43 Improvement Old and is named Snes9x 1.43 Improvement 12 beta 10.

And if you have that emulator or a newer version of 1.43 you can download and run this script that automatically fast forwards through door transitions item pickups and for some reason ceres. The option to run the script is located just under the movie play option.

EDIT2:

The run is now up on youtube, and thanks to Saturn it even looks like it is in 60 FPS :-)

EDIT3:

There is now a movie file encoded by a TASvideos member (ShinyDoofy) available here, that removes all the cutscenes, for a much more seamless watch.

Very Excited! Cant wait to see it on youtube (Because I am tired of SMV's Desyncronizing.  :( )
Awesome!!!  :-D
Very nice Cpadolf. Favorite part?
randomly shinesparking mother brain at the end. That'll show her!

Here's to raising the bar with every work of yours *faint sound of glasses being knocked together*

Yay short charge speedballs!

The whole run was just great, I don't know if I can even choose a highlight.

Spazer pickup could be improved grin new

Awesome run, man!

The jump through the door saved time, realtime anyway (less lag at the door transition).

Also it could take a while longer to get it up on youtube, I requested Saturn to make a good youtube encode (that simulates 60fps) and he has not responed yet. Befor he says yes or no I can't give another estimate.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I wonder if this will desynch on Snes9x 1.51...

Edit: Crap, it won't play at all! :'(

Basically this sentence was meant ironically. Obviously I failed... :(

Anyway, I do not mean the method. I mean during the pickup fanfare Samus is touching the item. So you did not turn around on the last possible point as in the bomb pickup for example, where there are like 5 px between Samus`s model and the item.
That makes me curious: Did you simply forget to optimize some pickups or were you not able to carry them out it due to your entry/exit strategies (which are faster anyway)? I guess the later one.

And btw, I like your usage of the grapple beam!

I use SNES v1.43 i9 and it works.
However, this version produces some sound errors.

This should answer some of your questions if you haven't seen it yet.

I know, but it does not mention why some pickups are not optimized that well (or at least don`t look like optimized). Consindering Cpadolf`s skills, I think it was done that way for good reasons.

Basically it either does ot matter or it is faster when I pick up an item in that way. Doing it like that let's me gain greater speed before the jump, and IIRC I can start running about as soon as with a jump to the item anyway, if not even sooner.

holy hell, really? i can't download and test it yet unfortunately, is it seamless? the cutting out of the door transitions and the item pickups anyway? i've been doing that with windows movie maker, among other small pieces where you can't really tell if you haven't seen and/or played the game played 50 million times like a lot of us here have

EDIT: By the way, i saw "My two cents about what I presume will be the discussion about this run not having any input animation" on the tas videos site. what are the input animations? the only thing i could think of is the control input where it shows what buttons are pressed. is that it or something else?

EDIT #2: is there anywhere i can download an avi of this? preferably not too high of quality, i don't like having to use vlc to play things. i don't mind using it, i just don't like having to use it to play the 4 hq videos i have
All aboard the soul train
Killing Mother Brain like that was the most insane and funny at the same time thing I have ever seen in a Super Metroid TAS :o
Good thing that I didn't miss this one thanks to my youtube subscriber (that's right, I subscribe YOU).

Wow! Even better than JXQ. I think you broke the world record.

Not seamless, it is basically turbo with high precision (a.i you still see the door transition flash by really quick).

You can see what I'm talking about if you watch this run (the second avi fie).

The only good avi download of the movie can be found here, it is of very good quality and is not that large.

Yeah that's the point, if I had not broken the record it would have been a failure. It is ~2 minutes and 34 seconds faster.
Speedrunner
I just yesterday check that out. Route looks very interesting and TAS was very cool.

Yeah this route looks it is good idea TAS only, because you don,t have charge and wave against Phantoon. +1 round phantoon is no possible on console.

But i really like this. Good job again.

neither of those links work for me. i found improvement 12 beta 12 but not beta 10. oh well. i also tried 1.51 and it wouldn't even play the smv's i got.
as for the script, i would very much like to have it. any chance on getting a link that does work?

also, YAY FINALLY HAVING NTSC!

Recently a TASvideos member (ShinyDoofy) encoded a new version of this run removing all the cutscenes, making it much more enjoyable to watch.

Movie file located here.
What'd you say?
thats amazing, good job Cpadolf

Someone should do a 100% non-TAS run on the Wii IMO  aiwebs_008
