They're all about the same as that one. Pretty flawed but somewhat amusing. Actually Seabed I haven't played too much of yet, so it may be better or worse (I assume better).

Chalk it up to consciousness raising (of the hacking variety).
I also noticed whilst playing there was an area that used Acherons unique method of shooting blocks so the flying platform enemy (excuse my lack of enemy terms) can proceed.

Honestly, the more hacks that come out (and those of which heavily borrow ideas from others), the more I want to finish Cliffhanger, before some of my ideas are coined by someone else. It's not really a thing of greed (I'm excited about this japanese guy playing my one room hack), it's more of a thing of wanting the player to be excited, seeing something new.

Rest assured, my statues will kick so much ass that most hacks after mine will most likely follow suit.  laugh new

Soup actually had a room in LN that had this, but then Acheron released Hangtime, and I changed it so I wouldn't look like i was stealing ideas.

I want Samus in headphones.
I want to go fight Ridley, but I want to get the supers first, because I haven't found them yet. (Oh, and I found the bombs. I misread the hints.)

Edit: I give up on the supers. I'll just beat it without them.

I've been trying the hacks on that page.  Here's what I found so far:

Sevenstar:  Already covered

Escape from Metroid:  The name pretty much says it all.  After about 15 attempts at the first room with big metroids I gave up.  There's dodging techniques I obviously need to learn.

Metroid Tenka:  Now this is a goofy little hack.  I finished it in 17 minutes.  A more appropriate name would be "fun with the hyper beam."  It's glitchy, incredibly short, and, like Sevenstar, kinda fun.

Seabed:  It seems by far to be the most extensive of the hacks, and some areas are very different, although the map changes in Norfair have been minimal.  It's somewhat hard, as I'm in Norfair sans varia, although I may have missed it.  I missed charge too, which makes Croc tough as well.  Don't save anywhere but at the ship and don't go in a map room as either will glitch the game something awful.  The verdict is still out on this one, although I think I like it overall.

Sorry to double post, and maybe I should have started another thread, but this is a question for anyone who has played the Seabed hack.

I seem to be stuck.  I am in Kraid's lair.  I just killed him and got my reward, and I'm doing pretty good (8 e-tanks, 1R, 60M, 5S, 15PB, grapple, high jump, gravity suit).  The problem is that the entrance to Kraid's lair is on the wrong side of a blue gate and I don't have the wave beam.  I'm actually on the wrong side of about three such gates to get back where I came from, which is why I assumed wave would be somewhere near where I am.  Did I miss it?  Am I screwed?  Am I missing another path forward?

Any help would be appreciated.

This hack has potential but it's super glitchy and really uneven.  Some areas are great.  Some are identical to vanilla SM.

P.S. -- I earlier got to where wave is in the original and that location houses something else.

Yeah, Seabed is still a beta, though it's probably one of my favorite hacks. I had the same problem you did, but careful green-gate glitching got me out. Use slowdown and a bunch of patience, and shoot at as low a height as you can. You're about 2/3 of the way through the game; it ends in lower norfair dead-ends, IIRC.
Thanks.  I actually reverted to an earlier save and found wave in Maridia.  Wave and ice are the only beams I ever found.  I got stuck in LN due to a scrolling error I couldn't work around.  There was also a scrolling error in green brinstar but I found a work-around for that one.  I never found the WS, never found Draygon, but I found about a million glitches, including an energy tank that reappears forever if you want to make suitless Norfair a non-issue.

It's a huge hack and if the author ever decides to finish and bugfix it, I agree that it could be one of the best out there.  Man does it need a lot of work though.

Might be stuck. Can't get MB to her final form, not enough missiles. Is this the end for me?
Sounds like it. Or you could just edit it in SMILE so you can get out and get more missiles.
Played through SevenStar today.

Oh my. Those seabed pictures hurt my eyes. I absolutely HATE the many rooms with glitchy-ass (lol?) tiles, it just really isn't my style. And those statues are ugly wannabes of Dmantra's.

About the copying of ideas, it may or may not be true. I had a similar statue to dmantra's using the blue kraid head before I ever saw his cliffhanger promos. (deleted now since people would accuse me)

keep it. MAKE MORE infact.  :D

I've never really seen a problem with stealing ideas (not that I've done it too much). There are a lot of rooms in a given hack and a finite number of puzzles. Stealing whole room concepts might be a little much, but I would never have come up with Limit's pseudo-metroids made with Wrecked Ship tiles. I don't feel bad about using those in a couple places.

Also, don't judge Seabed by its appearance. Right now it's very rough graphically, but it's a really fun hack with some original fights and physics that I actually prefer to the ordinary ones. Unless you really can't stand the (admittedly, pretty ubiquitous) tiling and graphics errors, you're missing out.
Hm, I played through much of it and I dont recall anything that really fun or amusing. I think I just quit after a certain point in the upper part of Maridia because I got bored. Maybe I didn't get far enough.

Hm, tried playing it again because of this and now I remember why I hated it. Every enemy takes 900 hits more than they should for the point in the game you're at with few places to consistantly collect missiles, and nearly every room is underwater without gravity suit so movement is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

Oh, did I mention the insane out of water physics?

Hm on the plus side though, I kinda like how he presents green brinstar, even though there are tiling errors all over the place, but you can get the idea of what'd look like if those were gone.

Oh my I found an original room that he forgot to seal off =3 :

Is Seabed any further along than it was?  Or is it the same version as before?
Same version. I think (at least I assume) that it's finished. Someone correct me if it isn't. Then again, he may have abandoned it as well, since he released Sevenstar AFTER Seabed already existed.
Earlier someone said it was still a beta.  If it's finished it's not completable, at least the version I played.  As I said, I couldn't get out of LN.  Plus I never found the WS, never found Draygon in Maridia and only found two beams (ice and wave).  It was the most glitch-filled hack ever when I played it a few months ago.  That's why I wondered if it's been cleaned up a bit or expanded upon.  I saw potential.
I went back to the site and it doesn't look like he's updated it any; the version there is still 1.2 and that's the one I'm playing as well. My guess is that he abandoned it. It does look like he's working on another hack that isn't released yet but unfortunately it looks as glitchy as the others.
Kneel before the great & powerful chOZo
That was definitely worth playing.  1:13 42%

Does anyone know if 100% is possible?  Does anyone have a map?
44% is the highest anyone has achieved.  Pretty sure that's the max.
This reminds me, I was able to beat Seabed by making around 3 or so changes to crashy rooms in SMILE, so it's perfectly beatable with SMILE-editting when you run into crashing and it's pretty much finished beyond those issues (the escape is ridiculous). TBH I don't know how or if the creator even playtested some of his stuff beyond the crashes or how he did it without fixing them.

Grr. When I patch this all the rooms are totally normal except the first one, which looks like complete shit. I had the same problem with SAC so I'm thinking it's my ROM, but I'm just curious if anyone else encountered this problem. In the meantime I'll download a new ROM, I guess.
Oddly enough the only SAC problem I had was solved by removing the header, but maybe you had a different version of the patch. Actually I dont even remember if Seabed is a headered hack or not.
